Premier League giants Arsenal could be on the verge of losing out on yet another summer target, as it has now been confirmed by midfielder Oguzhan Ozyakup that he does not wish leave Turkish champions Besiktas. Arsene Wenger’s side were looking to bring back their former star to the Emirates in the upcoming days, the Daily Star had suggested.
Even though there have been claims that the move was on and could be completed in the upcoming days, it has been stated by Turkish paper Milliyet that the 23 year old superstar has no intention of going back to England any time soon.
The Black Eagles’ midfielder said, “There have been offers but I do not want to leave this season, I want to stay with Besiktas and play Champions League football.”
After leaving and moving to north London in 2012, the Turkey international has been playing on a regular basis, something which was seldom in the top flight of English football.
With a couple of years still remaining in the player’s current deal with the club, Besiktas are
hoping that Ozyakup will sign a new deal with them.
The star was an integral part of the playing eleven last term and helped his side win the
Turkish Super Lig title last term.
He managed a tally of 10 goals, along with eight assists as well, which might have caught Wenger’s attention and what happens next remains to be seen.
