Champions of Europe, Real Madrid will start their title defence against Portuguese outfit Sporting Lisbon at the Bernabeu in Spain on Wednesday night, as they look to get their campaign off with a win. Zinedine Zidane will be hoping for nothing less than the best from his confident side, who will want to perform at their very best this time around as well, as they have been doing for quite some time now.
The La Liga giants have already made a good start to the new campaign and have been given a boost by the return of Portugal international and Euro 2016 winner Cristiano Ronaldo, who is a one man wrecking machine.
The attacker broke the club’s goal scoring record of maximum goals by a player recently and will be expected to do what he does best this time around once again, which is keep scoring goals.
Real will welcome Ronaldo’s former club to Madrid and will want to be at their attacking best, as the French manager’s team goes into the game at the back of a 5-2 win over Osasuna in the league, where goals came thick and fast.
It will be interesting to see whether the Los Blancos’ stars can live up to their reputation and status of champions and here is the starting eleven of the Real squad for the match:
