Manchester United are now considering replacing their skipper Wayne Rooney with Real Madrid’s midfield ace Isco in the new year, reports have now suggested. The attacking midfielder, who is priced at a fee of £25m was wanted by the Red Devils’ Premier League rivals in the past few seasons and is now a target of Jose Mourinho’s side.
The 24 year old Spanish international might be looking for a move away from the Bernabeu this January, after being pushed down the pecking order by some of his team-mates in recent times.
The star who had caught the attention of various clubs across the continent during his stint with former club Malaga, has not really been able to perform at the expected level for the Champions League holders.
It was speculated over the seasons that north London giants Arsenal and Tottenham were looking to grab hold of him and the midfielder might now replace the out-of-form Rooney under the Portuguese boss.
It the move does happen and the player does move to England, Isco can have a positive impact on United’s attack and provide Mourinho with a more versatile option up front, to make the team look stronger.
There is certainly a need for the Manchester based side to add one or two high quality players up front to become a force to reckon with and there will surely be quite a few offers made for top stars like Isco, once the transfer window opens again.
