Chelsea have been given a massive confidence boost as Spanish striker Diego Costa is deemed fit to play against Middlesbrough on Sunday. The striker picked up a groin injury during his country’s national team duty and was withdrawn from the squad last week. The 28 year old pulled up during a training session with the La Roja team and missed Tuesday’s clash with England. He was flown back to London where he underwent a medical treatment in which reports suggested he is stable enough to play for Conte’s men.
It is claimed that Costa has done enough to prove worthy to his manager he is fit and ready to play after giving a scare to the Chelsea fans.
The striker will make the trip to the Riverside, though Chelsea are worried about fitness over stellar winger Eden Hazard who picked up a knock on his calf during Belgium’s trashing of Estonia this week. And despite Roberto Martinez playing down the injury, the Chelsea fans are not willing to risk their star who was forced off during the second half.
The 25 year old Belgian has been a key asset to Conte’s side this season and with the form he is in, the Stamford Bridge outfit wouldn’t want to lose him on playing when his team requires on his services.
The Blues, currently is second place are just one point of leaders Liverpool and a win in the North-east could see them go top of the table if Liverpool drop points at Southampton, although Boro are a tough test as they have shown resolve in snatching a point each at the Emirates and Etihad.
