Chelsea centre-back Kurt Zouma has endured a frustrating season at Stamford Bridge, having lost his place due to a knee injury that kept him sidelined for lengthy periods. He had barely featured in seven Premier League games due to Gary Cahill, David Luiz and Cesar Azpilicueta, being in fine form for Antonio Conte.
The latest reports suggest that Zouma is a target for Jose Mourinho’s Manchester United. The Red Devils’ boss is planning on recruiting the French defender whom he once managed at Chelsea.
Knowing the quality that Zouma possesses, Mourinho is keen on bringing him to Old Trafford to strengthen up Manchester United’s back-line and the lack of playing time will be one of the key factors for the Portuguese.
Being regarded as one of the promising future prospects in the Premier League, Zouma made an impact during Jose Mourinho’s second spell in charge at Chelsea. The ‘Special One’ could be planning a swoop deal for the 22 year old who has become a Chelsea outcast.
However, Antonio Conte has also suggested that Zouma is an integral part of the Chelsea squad and will be an important player next season when club legend John Terry is set to retire.
Zouma has made 69 appearances for the Blues since joining from Saint Etienne in 2014. It may not be easy for Mourinho to sign Zouma given the fact that Chelsea are reluctant to let him go but there have been stranger things happening between rival clubs before.
