The Full Story-
It seems that the Gunners have now submitted a bid of £22m for Colombian Star Juan Cuadrado as they look to bolster their squad in every key area they suffered last season. Arsenal signed France super-striker Alexandre Lacazette from Lyon for a club record fee and are still in the market to sign another attacking player.
The winger is on the list with Monaco’s young gun Thomas Lemar and Leicester star man Riyadh Mahrez are also on the Radar of the North Londoners.
The Colombian international has spent two successive season on loan in italy, Cuadrado has so far made 48 appearances across all competitions for the Old Lady and has found the net on 8 occasions he has also laid 12 assists for his teammates, His move to Turin was made permanent in the summer due to a clause inserted in his contract by chelsea which meant that the Seria A giants will have to sign the player on permanent basis if they secure the domestic title which they did and they paid £17m to the Blues to secure the player services permanently.
Although, the Gunners are desperate to land the Colombian, The 29 year old prefers to stay in Italy rather than have a second stint in England, Juan Cuadrado had made a £23.3m switch to premiere league side Chelsea from Fiorentina in 2015.
He wasn’t given many chances to prove his worth at the Stamford Bridge and initially left for Italy in the next season and has since found first team football regularly making his move to Juventus this season permanently.
Cuadrado’s time with the Serie A champs has been very much successful he has lifted two Seria A with them and he reached the UEFA Champions league finals to but Real Madrid outplayed them and lifted their 12th Champions League.
Is he worth the money?
Though, the hype for Cuadrado just does not seem to die, he was not that impressive in the limited time that he was given in England, to showcase his talent under for Chelsea boss Jose Mourinho. However, since his return to Italy, the attacker has just started performing, similar to his times with Fiorentina and has looked a reincarnated player once again.
Deal or no deal?
Though, the move has been getting a lot of hype, due to the fact that the player was previous with the Blues, there does not seem to be too much substance to the rumour. It feels that the claims are all talks and no show and might be just a story that the tabloids want to enjoy sharing around.
This deal is also seeming highly unlikely, as Arsene Wenger has other target’s such as Thomas Lemar and Riyadh Mahrez, who are still way younger than Cuadrado and can adapt rather quickly to Premier League style of play.
Wenger has made a couple of great signings already, which could totally change the way things have gone for the Gunners, if his current stars like Alexis Sanchez and Mesut Ozil, do remain at the Emirates for the years to come.
Mahrez is my pick to be signed this summer next, though whether the deal will go through or not is still not certain. Follow our Facebook page for more information on all deals. Keep reading and keep liking!!
