The Deal-
Manchester United have agreed to sign 16 year old hot prospect Di’Shon Bernard on a free transfer from Chelsea’s youth academy, The youngster had agreed terms to join the Red Devils way back in April. Altough, the signing can only be completed once the summer transfer window opens.
The young gun ran out of contract this summer and Chelsea showed no signs of offering him a new deal so the French born youth prodigy decided to make a switch and joined Manchester United and he will now be determined to show Chelsea that they made a mistake by not offering him a better deal.
However, Di’Shon joins the list of several youngsters who have like him made a switch to League rivals from the past year.
Many of us are familiar with the name of Dominic Solanke (U-20 world cup winner and Golden Boot winner) the 19 year old was never given a chance to showcase his talent and abilities for the Blues as a result he made a switch to Liverpool for free.
Although a compensation fee is yet to be agreed between the two parties, the deal was said to be complete according to claims, which means that only a few mere formalities were left.
Other Chelsea academy youth stars such as a Eddie Nketiah and Zech Medley left club to join Arch Rivals Arsenal. While Medley is yet to show what he is capable of, Nketiah has already stepped up and is being touted as a future global star, with a couple of brilliant displays for the Under-23 side of Arsenal.
Coming back to Di’Shon the player has already updated his social media account such as Twitter which now reads as a Manchester United Player.
He has also retweeted Danish Journalist Alexander Falk who posted on his official Twitter handle stating that “Chelsea will regret big time”.
Bernard is not the only name to join Kieran McKenna’s Under-18 squad ahead of the new season. The former Tottenham player will travel to Austria this weekend for pre-season training and will be very well delighted by the addition of such talented youngsters in his squad.
French whizkid Aliou Traore and Spanish midfielder Arnau Puigmal have already joined the team for the pre-season training while they have also added some local talents in squadas. Whether Di’Shon will shine at the U-18 level only time wil tell.
Manchester United’s recruitment drive is a positive sign for the club after their youth setup had fallen far behind thier neighbours’. And now United are slowly making the right move’s towards building a strong youth squad that can provide players more regularly to the the first team.
Performance so far in the transfer market-
Mourinho has been making some smart signings in the transfer market and living up to his reputation, though he would have a handful of money still to spend. The move to add Lukaku to his squad at Old Trafford, beating former club Chelsea was a feather in his cap.
The club’s faithful will be hoping that he can pull off some more deals, in order to strengthen the squad prior to the start of the new season now.
