How It All Started-
After the drubbing of LA Galaxy 5-2, Manchester United manager Jose Mourinho decided that he would not be signing Alvaro Morata from Real Madrid. The race for the Spanish international should ended after Mourinho was pleased with his players’ performances in their pre-season opening fixture and he eventually was sold to the club’s rivals Cheslea. Romelu Lukaku did not manage to get on the score-sheet but was looking sharp with his movement and with just the pre-season friendlies in progress, he could be the ’hit-man’ for his new club.
With rumors surrounding Zlatan Ibrahimovic’s future at the club, Mourinho mentioned that the big Swede may also sign another contract extension for the 2017-18 campaign
Another player for Mourinho will be happy with would be Marcus Rashford, who grabbed a first half hat-trick in a quite phenomenal display. The young forward played with purpose and if he can maintain his goal-scoring consistency, Mourinho would not need to look into the market for another striker.
More Positives From The Game-
The Red Devils however managed to concede two goals towards the end of an otherwise, flawless performance. Though Mourinho will have to decide who he starts in defense with the first team, as he has Lindelof and Baily to choose from or will Smalling be dropped to the bench?
With United also closing in on the signing for Perisic, Anthony Martial put in a solid show to remind the fans and club what he can offer, he also grabbed a goal in the victory.
Under Van Gaal, Martial was one of the most impressive players but his fortunes turned around when Jose Mourinho arrived as he gave way for Mata and Rashford.
However, the Frenchman is still keen to fight for his place in the squad and looked determined and hungry for the new season.
A change in formation could also be something Mou experiments with next season, and he may use a preferred 3 at the back system, which was used by Antonio Conte last term in their title winning season.
At United, a potential back five of Valencia, Blind, Lindelof, Baily and Shaw seems to be an exciting prospect with Smalling, Young and Darmien as back-ups. We just cannot wait to see what the new season unfolds.
Current Update On Zlatan’s Future-
In a recent report that has been shared by the Telegraph, it is being suggested that Zlatan will sign a new deal with the Manchester based side, once he recovers from his injury. This would be good news for the fans and the team, as the veteran striker was an inspiration for them, last term, in his debut season in England.
If Zlatan can produce more of the same from last term, he might be able to propel the Red Devils to a league title in the upcoming campaign, if not more, as they look to make their return to Champions League football.
