The Main Story-
The Reds are planning to beat arch rivals Everton to the signing of Benfica forward Raul Jimenez as Jurgen Klopp looks set to bolster his squad ahead of the start of next season.
The Portuguese club are willing to listen to offers for the 26 year old Mexican international, as he is linked to a host of English clubs this summer with clubs such as West Ham, Liverpool and Everton all monitoring his situation at Benfica.
Few media outlets had reported that West Ham United were very much ahead of Everton and Liverpool to sign Raul Jimenez since the striker’s days back at Atletico Madrid. But the Mexican back then missed out on a proposed loan deal that had been agreed between the two clubs as Raul had overslept and missed his flight ahead of a medical at the club, and then eventually moved too Premiera Liga giants Benfica on a permanent basis from Atletico Madrid.
The Toffees have had an impressive start to this season’s transfer market as they are continuing to strengthen their squad ahead of next season.
If recent reports are to be believed, the Toffees have submitted an offer around £40m for the Mexican international and in the process have accepted a £75m from Manchester United for Romelu Lukaku too who is now to agree personal terms with United and will be subject to a medical in LA.
Coming back to their rivals Liverpool who have always been somehow plagued with injuries at crucial times last season too, These injuries to star performer’s have affected Liverpool’s chances to win the Premier League last term and also crushed their chances to win the Europa League.
What will he bring to the team for Liverpool?
Adding Raul Jimenez to Jurgen Klopp’s side would be very effective as he would be a good squad rotational player who can play as a second fiddle to Roberto Firmino. As Daniel Sturridge somehow manages to lose his fitness level and his inability to support the Brazilian time and time again has proved costly for Liverpool.
Also, the forward is 26 and has a lot of experience to perform at the top level and can be part of Klopp’s long term plans, if he adapts to Liverpool’s playing style, after his move to England. It could be a good deal to get completed, as the Kops look to win more titles in the days to come.
Playing in the Champions League will be tricky too and the Reds will want to impress in Europe’s biggest cup competition as well. Interesting choice for the German manager and hopefully he can make good use of this star that he wants to sign.
The Mexican international has a total of 54 appearances to his name at present, in which he has managed to score 12 times. He can provide the Merseyside outfit with some crucial goals in games, when they might need them.
Whether or not the deal will be completed shall be seen in the weeks to come, though for any updates on this transfer and various others, do like our Facebook page and keep following it closely.
