The Big One-
The Blues are currently linked with Real Madrid striker Alvaro Morata according to the latest reports. Chelsea manager Antonio Conte has not yet made a massive summer signing in the window apart from signing Man-City’s second choice keeper. Despite title rivals Manchester City, Arsenal, Liverpool and Manchester United all mainly snapping up their acquired targets so far, with Romelu Lukaku set to be the latest unveiling signing at Old Trafford.
Conte had been linked to Romelu Lukaku for quite a few weeks, but the big Belgian has decided that he will be joining Jose Mourinho’s Red Devils for another massive £75m fee from Everton.
Manchester United star Paul Pogba was seen with Lukaku in LA and could be part of their pre-season training by next week.
Chelsea may have felt mugged as they believed themselves to be in pole position to land Lukaku, but Jose Mourinho has swooped in hijacked the deal leaving Chelsea in a bit of a hole as to which player could possibly target after Lukaku is set to head play at Old Trafford.
The Chelsea fans may possibly get even more worried after Diego Costa has hinted he wants out of Stamford Bridge, the Spanish forward has been Chelsea’s hit-man for the past three seasons helping them winning the league twice as well as the Capitol One Cup.
Costa has been linked with returning back to Spain and should the 28 year old leave, the onus will be on Chelsea’s transfer staff to attract a high end centre forward.
A possible replacement for Costa would be another Spaniard, Alvaro Morata. The 24 year old has already won the Champions League at La Liga with Madrid last season and is currently looking for more game-time.
Due to lack of opportunities in the attacking ranks, Morata has found it frustrating at times, by coming on as a substitute or spending most of the time on the bench.
Chelsea could be a sensational club for Morata as he would certainly fill in well with Spanish mates Pedro, Fabregas, Alonso and Azpilicuetta, where he has played alongside them at national level.
Sign him already?
There is also no doubt of the quality the young man possesses, he is strong, fast, can dribble and is also a threat in the air.
It is a shame that such a talent is wasted not playing in a starting eleven of a team when he truly deserves to.
Football Pundit Alejandro Moreno has insisted that Chelsea should try and complete a move for Morata, ahead of other possible targets that include Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang and Andrea Belotti.
He stated,”The pick of those three would be Alvaro Morata. If I am making the choice, because I am thinking of potential, I am thinking of what future lies ahead, the age of the player, the productivity, what I think this guy can be for me.”
Morata was sent on loan by Real Madrid a couple of seasons ago, where he knocked out his parent club scoring two goals in the two ties of the Semi-finals in the Champions League also helping Juventus to the Serie A title.
