Barcelona did well in the first half of the game as Luis Suarez made life difficult for Navas as he tested him inside the area and Dani Carvajal was lucky enough to not see a card has he touched the ball with his hand while blocking Gerard Deulofeu cross.

Both side’s played good in the attack in the first half and Gareth Bale almost scored but Marc Stegen made a good save to deny them any early breaktrough.

Gerard Pique was booked as he tried to take shot towards the goal from a corner innthe first half, This only made his life more difficult as he gave Madrid an wanted lead by putting it in his own net five minutes after the second half started.

New Barcelona manager Ernesto Valverde put on Denis Suarez in the 59th minute replacing Deulofeu and this move almost paid off for the catalans as the midfielder took the corner and found Luiz Suarez but Navas made a brilliant save preventing the Blaugrana from a equaliser.

Cristiano Ronaldo came on in 58th minute and replaced Karim Benzema and took shot which was blocked from Pique and then went to score a goal only for the official to raise the flag and deem him offside.

The Euro Cup winner then took advantage of his chance to intiate a counter from Isco and took his chances by shoting from 20 yard into the top right corner and make it 2-1.

The Portuguese then removed his shirt for no reason to celebrate and was booked for the first time in match and then made a dive in penalty area but the referee was in mood of buying it and showed him the second yellow and told him to march off the field, He will miss the second leg.

But this did not let Madrid to get off the rail as Marcos Asensio finshed off a brilliant chance from the edge of the area to make it 3-1.
