Story Thus Far-
The two time Copa America winner is running out of contract next summer. Arsenal are adamant and are not willing to bend down for the Chileans demands as he is asking for a raise. Sanchez currently earns £250,000 per week and is now demanding a hefty 200% raise which will see his weekly wage go up to £450,000 a week. There are also a few rumours stating that he wants to play in the UEFA Champions League and since Arsenal are not in the competition this season he wants too move away, Hence Manchester City and PSG are his favoured destinations.
The Gunners have made it clear that Alexis Sanchez is not for sale and will definitely stay at the Emirates this season. Arsenal Manager Arsene Wenger has also cleared the air over his future stating that the Chile international is in his plans for this season and will not leave Arsenal for any price, Definitely not to a Premier League rival. Although if a renewal is not agreed upon by January then any club can contact him and sign him for free, Arsenal will definitely look to avoid that situation.
Manchester City boss Pep Guardiola is desperate to land his former player and is in talks with him for a few months, Although United and Chelsea are also interested in the player but have not made any formal offer to Arsenal. If Gunners decided to cash in on the 28 year old this summer then Manchester City will have to battle it out with Ligue 1 giants Paris Saint-Germain to secure his signature.
PSG have already smashed the transfer market record fee as they paid an enormous £198m to sign Brazillian superstar Neymar Jr from FC Barcelona. But after this acquisition there is no place for Sanchez in their line up since he plays on the left wing and that is even Neymar’s preferred position. This means City are pretty much in the driving seat to sign the former Barcelona man. Arsenal have so far rejected all approaches made for Sanchez, But City are willing to go ahead and table a final offer of £60m for Alexis Sanchez and also will offer him a lucrative £400k a week.
Manchester City have already spent big this summer. Pep Guardiola has almost spent £220m only to reinforce his defence and is now looking to sign Sanchez as he fits his final piece of the puzzle. The Spaniard is a huge fan of Sanchez and is pestering his employers to go ahead and sign the Chileans regardless the cost.
Alexis Sanchez did not feature for the Gunners against Leicester City and it’s certain that he will miss the game against Stoke too this weekend. As the saga continue only time will tell where he will play this season.
Deal Or No Deal?
If Sanchez does not wish to remain with the north London giants, there is no manager in the world who can keep him there, not even Wenger. However, it is in the best interest of Arsenal to convince him to stay at the club for another year, so that Pep might eventually let go of his ambitions of signing the former Barca man in the long run.
