Wenger’s Replacement For Alexis Sanchez-
Arsene Wenger is keen on bringing in German national team vice-captain Thomas Muller to Arsenal in the January transfer window. With the rumors of Alexis Sanchez close to leaving the Emirates, Muller is considered a possible replacement. It comes as no surprise that Chilean superstar Alexis Sanchez wants to leave Arsenal. But the forward now will remain at the club till the next transfer window or till his contract runs out at the end of the season.
However, Sanchez has consistently reminded his fans and clubs across Europe that he wants to play in the Champions League, and with Arsenal failing to do so this season, a move is certainly on the cards. However, Arsenal managed to keep hold of their prized asset in the summer transfer window, despite losing 4-0 to Liverpool at Anfield just before the transfer window shut.
Sanchez looked unsettled and frustrated while playing for Arsenal and with just 12 months left on his contract; it is highly unlikely that the 27-year-old will sign a contract extension.
And the Gunners boss has possibly spared himself some time to look into the transfer market to negotiate a few deals with other strikers across Europe. The latest rumor floating around the Emirates stadium is that the club is keen on recruiting Bayern Munich forward Thomas Muller.
The attacking German international has been playing second fiddle to Robert Lewandowski at the Allianz Arena and has not been able to fit in well under new boss Carlo Ancelotti since the Italian manager’s arrival last season.
This has put Muller’s speculation at the Bundesliga Champions’ club in doubt. The highly prolific striker managed just 5 goals throughout last campaign and managed 14 assists mainly due to his form midway through last season. But overall, Muller has struggled to even hold down a starting berth at Bayern, with most of his appearances coming off the bench.
Muller has drawn the interest of Chelsea, Arsenal, and Liverpool in the Premier League, where the trio of top flight English clubs are looking to bolster their frontline. However, Arsenal cannot boast of the Champions League.
It could be up to Muller in the next winter transfer window if he chooses a new club or remains at Bayern.
Definitely, the German is a top quality player and would walk into any team in the world, but will he choose to fight for his place or look for a new challenge elsewhere.
The Ancelotti Sacking-
Another factor that will play a key role in determining whether this deal will go through or not, is the Ancelotti sacking, with the Italian manager being sacked by the Bundesliga champs. It could have an impact on how well Muller may adapt now to his role at the club and whether or not he is a regular first team player and an integral part of the plans, of the new manager coming in. Things good get interesting here.
Europa League Form-
The Gunners beat BATE 4-2 in the second game of the Europa League and are looking good, as they get set to face off against Brighton. The initial nerves have settled and they have a chance to get back to form and win some titles, in the days to follow. Now, it will be up to Wenger to make sure that they perform at that level and not end up throwing chances away.
