Breaking: Liverpool Set To Sign Defensive Midfielder From Serie A Outfit, Along With Mane Injury Update

Liverpool’s Ambitions To Sign This Star-

Jurgen Klopp has a huge problem in his defensive department and the Reds boss is in dire need of a player who can stop the Merseyside club from conceding goals. Inter Milan midfielder Geoffrey Kondogbia is currently on loan at Spanish club Valencia, but is the latest transfer target on Liverpool’s radar.

Scoring goals have not been the problem for Liverpool but the defense has cost them a lot of points and games over the past few seasons. With a stellar attack in the form of Philippe Coutinho, Sadio Mane, Mohamed Salah, Daniel Sturridge and Roberto Firmino, Jurgen Klopp has stressed on the importance of keeping a stable defense, but did not manage to recruit a good defender in the transfer window.

The Reds are currently struggling to keep their opponents from scoring goals but Kondogbia has impressed heavily during his time on loan at Spanish giants Valencia. The La Liga outfit sits in third place in the league after seven matches and they have been quite solid at the back so far.

The French international is usually deployed as a midfielder but can also make-shift into a centre-back if his side requires him to. Konbogbia is a tall and sturdy frame who is good in the air and composed on the ball.

At 24, Kondogbia is relatively young and is yet to play for a massive club in European competitions. Liverpool are keeping an eye on the Frenchman who could be a possible replacement for German international Emre Can, who could leave the club for Serie A champions Juventus.

Can is out of contract at Liverpool by the end of the season and has similar qualities to Kondogbia. However, there is serious competition from Premier League rivals Tottenham Hotspur who are looking to fill the void left by the injured Victor Wanyama.

The London based club are currently fighting for a top 4 spot but Moussa Sissokho hasn’t fit in well and may look to sell the French midfielder for his countryman.

But Valencia do have the option of buying Kondogbia to make his move from Inter Milan a permanent move with a release clause of £22m by the end of the season. Therefore with the demand of Kondogbia on the rise, it leaves a dilemma with either Inter Milan or Valencia if they should sign or keep the defensive midfielder.

Liverpool fans though may urge Jurgen Klopp to sign a strong anchorman in midfield after fans are falling out with club captain Jordan Henderson.

Sadio Mane Injury Update-

It has happened once again and this time the Reds could be in bigger trouble than before, as Sadio Mane has once again picked up an injury and could miss around six weeks of footballing action, which will be a huge set-back for the Merseyside outfit. It is a hamstring injury and the attacker might miss some crucial fixtures. Liverpool have already been struggling for form in recent weeks and this could make things even worse for them.

Hopefully, Klopp can make use of his bench strength at the right time and bail them out of this tough situation with some positive results, once the Premier League resumes at the weekend.
