The Story Of The Summer Transfer Window-
The Blues manager Antonio Conte had insisted that Chelsea were doing the best they could have to recruit players before the summer transfer window ended. Conte had reportedly been frustrated at the lack of signings in the summer and was now looking to push through deals for a few players in the last ditch 10 days to make up for lost time and effort to bring in players at Stamford Bridge. However, things did not go totally as per plan.
With just Alvaro Morata, Tiemoue Bakayoko, Anthony Rudiger and Willy Caballero arriving at Chelsea this summer, the fans at the club are reportedly unhappy after letting go of club legend John Terry as well as key midfilder Nemanja Matic and a few youngsters out on loan.
The English champions will now have just 10 days before the transfer deadline day arrives to make an impact on the transfer market as Conte is hinting at a possibility of signing 5 players in the given time. With the London club now entering the Champions League, Conte will have to look at rotating the players that are available to him to make sure he can have fit and rested players throughout the season.
In a recent interview Conte said, The club is trying its best in the transfer market to improve our squad but I must be happy.
“We only have to think on the pitch and not to give answers to people.
“This moment is not easy for us but I am very happy to have this group of players because they showed me great commitment, desire and will to improve after a great season.
“We only need to focus on the pitch, outside does not matter for us.” He added
Conte had seemed confident of new arrivals at Chelsea but had hinted the few players that the club could have added before the transfer window did shut back then.
Virgil Van Dijk, Cedric Soares, Ryan Bertrand are the trio of Southampton players that could cost around £150m should the south-coast club be willing to sell, though these deals never did happen.
Danny Drinkwater of Leicester and Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain are the two other midfielders that Conte was reportedly targeting, though the former signed for them and the latter joined Liverpool before the window was shut.
A 2-1 victory against local London rivals Tottenham Hotspur on the Sunday after that at Wembley did easy the pressure of new signings at least for a couple of days, though that didn’t last for long.
Editor’s View- Why Conte Needs To Sign Stars More In January!!
The Manchester based clubs are still dominating the league table and Conte has to continue to keep winning matches, in order to stay alive in the title race. He has also the Champions League and other cup competitions to focus on and if he is not careful, he might end win losing out on winning anything this term, which might trigger a reaction from the management, which is already not too happy with the way that the team have been performing so far.
