The Reds are linked to several players since the departure of their superstar Philippe Coutinho. Dani Ceballos is one of such names. Just 5 months after joining the Los Blancos, Ceballos has fallen out with manager Zinedine Zidane and has also reportedly suggested that he should have chosen Barcelona instead of Real Madrid.
The 21 year old Spaniard has not been trusted much by Zindane and has also found game time hard to come at the Spanish capital following his €18m summer move from Real Betis last summer.
Many Spanish media outlets have reported that the Reds are closing in on a deal for the midfielder after officials from the club met with him at a hotel.
Liverpool on the other hand have been quite discreet about their transfer businesses. The Reds are also considering to bring in either one of Thomas Lemar or Christian Pulisic. But they believe that it would be best to get them in the summer rather than bringing them in haste.
Ceballos is a subject of interest for many other clubs too and his agent has apparently held talk with only Liverpool. They can be termed as favourites to snap him up considering the money they received from Barcelona last week.
The former Betis midfielder is unlikely to go for a high price considering his limited game time at the Bernabeu.
But the Reds would have an X-factor, like i said that they received an enormous £142m from Barcelona for Coutinho and they could pretty much beat any club in the world to acquire the 21 year olds services.
Altough Dani Ceballos is one of the bright prospects to come out of Spain recently ,but he won’t fill in the big shoes of Philippe Coutinho. The Brazilian is regarded as one of the best versatile player to grace the Premier League as he can play on the wings and drop back deep to help the midfield.
Dani Ceballos won the player of the tournament award last year at the Euro U21 Championship. The 21 year old overshadowed the scoring prowess of his compatriots Saul Nigrez and current Real Madrid teammate Marcos Asensio to win the award. His all action display in the heart of Betis side’s midfield caught the eye of Los Blancos who paid a mere sum of €18m to acquire his services. It was clear that Madrid saw him as a long term replacement for Luka Modric.
Ceballos has the ability to carry the ball into the final third and his overall intelligence is outstanding. He is not the man who can fill Coutinho’s shoes at the Anfield but he can retain the ball very well and can move the opposition around with clever passing and movement as his output is similar to Modric. He can create chances and is a good passer of the ball something which Liverpool are missing and can certainly make good use of him if they manage to land him this month.
Zidane is currently under immense scrutiny at the Bernabeu with Real Madrid 16 points behind arch rivals Barcelona in the league. It is certain that the Frenchman will be an obstacle to any potential move. He has also made it clear that he doesn’t want to sign any player in this window and would only assess his options at the end of the season .He certainly wouldn’t want to lose out on Ceballos midway through the season.
