Chelsea superstar Eden Hazard has reportedly rejected another contract offer from the Blues, which has ignited the possibility of the Belgian leaving the club in the summer. The 27-year-old initially rejected a bumper offer from the Blues and now made his intentions clear of leaving the club.
Having signed for Chelsea from French club Lille in 2012 for a transfer fee reported to be £32m, he has won many honours at the Stamford Bridge club. Hazard helped Chelsea win the UEFA Europa League in his first season at the club followed with the Premier League and League Cup next season, along with being the PFA Young Player of the Year. Two seasons later he helped Chelsea winning another Premier League title as he was a star player in manager Antonio Conte’s first season in charge for the Blues.
The little Belgian is as dangerous as ever at the moment and is now at his peak being 27 years of age. He is keen on playing football at a higher level and there are a number of rumors floating around Europe that Hazard is eager to join La Liga champions Real Madrid.
Los Blancos manager Zinedine Zidane has already publicly stated of his interest in Eden Hazard claiming that he would want to bring him to the Santiago Bernabeu as soon as he can. The European champions are currently struggling in the Spanish league and situated at 4th in the table 16 points off leaders Barcelona and are in desperate need of reinforcements.
With Gareth Bale’s injury concerns as well, Real Madrid will be looking to solidify and strengthen their squad by bringing in another world-class talent in the form of Eden Hazard. And the Madrid outfit will be looking to take advantage of the situation the Belgian play-maker is in, as he has rejected his second contract with Chelsea.
Hazard’s current deal with Chelsea expires in 2020 but the Blues will be hoping that he signs an extension so they could keep him at the club for longer. However, Chelsea were willing to offer their talisman a bumper offer but he decided to reject it and has now rejected a second offer by the London club. And while Madrid may look at other options to bolster their attack for next season, Hazard has his eyes set for the Bernabeu after the 2018 FIFA World Cup in Russia.
And it seems unlikely that Hazard would want to sign a contract extension with the Premier League champions by the end of the summer as he would like to weigh his options by choosing which club he would want to play for. The Chelsea winger would cost quite a fortune as boss Antonio Conte would want a hefty sum for his best player and a fee or close to £100m would not come as a shock to the football world given the recent transfer events that have taken place.
An interesting summer beckons as Real would prefer to add depth to their team by only bringing in the best players and Hazard certainly fits that category. But will he leave or will Hazard finally succumb to being loyal to Chelsea. Only time will tell.
