Spanish superstar Dani Ceballos has urged Liverpool to make a move for him during the summer transfer window after he is unable to break through into Real Madrid’s first team. In a team that is filled with all the world-class stars on the planet, it can be extremely difficult to get into the starting eleven at Real Madrid. That is what midfielder Dani Ceballos must be feeling since his €18 million deal from Real Betis in the summer transfer window. The 21-year-old, Ceballos has found life at the Spanish capital extremely difficult since arriving at the Santiago Bernabeu last July making just 17 appearances for Madrid, starting seven times, five coming in the Copa Del Rey, two in the La Liga and zero in the Champions League.
Despite being wanted by a host of top European clubs across the continent including Barcelona, Ceballos decided to commit his future at Real Madrid to play for the holders of the UEFA Champions League. Ceballos had to wait until the end of September to make his first start under Zinedine Zidane and he was up for it as he managed to score a brace which earned his side a vital three points in a 2-1 win away from home at Deportivo Alaves.
Ever since that promising start to his campaign, the young superstar was thought to have made a huge impression on the Madrid fans and board, although it has not been the case after Ceballos had endured one of the worst weeks of his life.
During Madrid’s 5-3 win over at Betis, Ceballos was an unused substitute and was unable to make an impression on against his former side. Ceballos was also mocked by the Betis faithful at the Benito Villamarin as they termed him a ‘benchwarmer’ and ‘seed muncher’ last weekend.
Ceballos was introduced as a substitute for just the last 29 seconds of the game against Leganes which was considered humiliating in a normal football sense. With Real winning 3-1, all Ceballos did was run onto the pitch with intensity after the referee blew the full-time whistle under a minute of his action.
Therefore, Ceballos has looked to move away from the La Liga champions to join Liverpool, who could provide him with more playing time. Jurgen Klopp’s Reds will probably lose midfielder Emre Can by the end of the season as the German has still not had any contract talks with the club. And Ceballos is desperate and hungry to play for a top club regularly to show his worth.
With Luka Modric and Toni Kroos out for injured at the moment, Ceballos could be handed a start at Paris, in Madrid’s second leg encounter of the Champions League. But at Liverpool, he would have more opportunities at first-team football with less competition and the ability to test himself against the best in England.
The Merseyside club demolished FC Porto during their first leg clash in the Champions League Round of 16 and will be hoping to land the talented 21-year-old Ceballos in the summer to bolster their chances of winning the Premier League title next season.
