Arsenal’s Arsene Wenger Issues This Warning To Fierce Rivals Tottenham

Former Arsenal manager Arsene Wenger has stated that fierce North London rivals Tottenham Hotspur will have to sell their star players in order to raise funds for their rebuilding of the stadium. Although Arsene Wenger is leaving the Emirates Stadium this summer, he has still managed to deliver a massive blow to the Spurs faithful. The North London rivalry is one of the most intense battles in England and even the ex-players and managers enjoy taking jibes and digs at one another.

Wenger managed his final game last Sunday in a 1-0 win away at Huddersfield Town that ended his 22-year reign at Arsenal football club. The Frenchman delivered massive news earlier this season when he announced that he would step down from the club during the summer but he will be leaving fear in Tottenham fans’ hearts.

Spurs are currently playing their home games at Wembley because of their actual home ground, White Hart Lane is currently under reconstruction.

Despite that, Wenger is a man who knows all about shifting stadiums and still managing to keep football at a top level. The 68-year-old had to move from Highbury to the Emirates back in 2006, which was highlighted as one of the highlights of his prolific career with the Gunners.

Wenger was forced to play at the highest level of football in the Premier League while managing to pay back the loans that Arsenal used in order for their development of the Emirates.

With that being said, the former Arsenal main-man has warned Spurs boss Mauricio Pochettino of the problems that he is bound to face in the next few seasons.

The legendary manager was asked whether Spurs would face the same problem as their local rivals did 12 years ago to which he replied, “There are some things that have changed. The impact of the transfers has increased a lot, the prices have gone up and the prices for the stadium have doubled. The transfers of the players have tripled or quadrupled. A £10m player when we built the stadium was huge. Today a guy like Kane, I do not know for much they can sell him. £100m? So they might get more supply. But they have to face it.”

Wenger was then asked if Spurs would be able to sell some players in order to keep up their transfer to which he jokingly said, “Yes, to Arsenal, maybe. You never know in football, the next step is winning stuff but this is a big year for us, hopefully, we can have a massive year next year and win some trophies. (Champions League) is a big attraction, it is what everyone wants, especially the top players around the world. It is massive.”

With Spurs struggling to qualify for the Champions League this season (though they somehow did manage to do), they must have to do some good business in order to make sure that they’re football remains at a high quality.

Harry Kane is wanted by a lot of clubs across the continent and Spurs will have to make sure they do their best in order to retain their top quality players.

The World Cup coming up in Russia could also be a factor in determining how things go for them and a lot of teams, for the upcoming campaign.

Well, though it could be one platform where, if Kane can make a name for himself, his value could skyrocket and the likes of Real Madrid might intensify their efforts to bring him in.

On the other hand, if he is really committed to the Tottenham cause, then he will surely look to stay till the new stadium is completed and could become a club legend, with the way that he has been performing over the past few seasons.

It will be an interesting transfer saga for the days to come and Wenger has had his say on this. Whether he is right or not, will be seen in the days to follow.
