Five Reasons Why Germany Deserved To Be Knocked Out Of The World Cup

Germany have faced an awful defeat against South Korea in their last Group Stage. This defeat proves to be really costly for them as they are now out of the World Cup. The defending Champions have failed to qualify for the knockout stage of the tournament. Here we will discuss about the five reasons why Germany deserved to be knocked out of the World Cup :

 

1. Dropping Leroy Sane From The Final World Cup Squad :

 

Leroy Sane was dropped from the Germany National side’s final 23 men World Cup squad. It was quite a shocking decision taken by Joachim Low just ahead of the tournament. Leroy Sane was in great form with Manchester City in the previous season. He was also an integral part of the squad of Germany in the World Cup qualifiers. Eventually, he was not included in the final squad of Germany for the World Cup. In the group stage, this German side has felt the absence of Leroy Sane quite a few times in this World Cup. The German attack looked out of pace most of the times. Leroy Sane could well have generated the pace in the attack for Germany to provide them the edge that they needed.

 

2. Lack Of Quality Upfront :

 

Timo Werner had looked too much inexperienced in all three Group Stage matches in this World Cup for Germany. Timo Werner failed to score a single goal in this World Cup for Germany though he was the first choice centre forward for the Germans in this World Cup. Mario Gomez, with his huge experience was also not to able to score in the big stage. Sandro Wagner or Nils Peterson could have done a better job than them.

 

3. Choosing Manuel Neuer Over Marc Andre Ter Stegen :

 

Joachim Low preferred to play Manuel Neuer in all three group games for Germany. But the Goalkeeper did not look very much confident under the bars. He was injured throughout the whole season and certainly after coming back from a huge injury it is almost impossible for a player to maintain his previous form. On the other hand, Marc Andre Ter Stegen has played exceptionally well for Barcelona throughout the whole previous season. He was also the first choice Goalkeeper for Germany in the World Cup Qualifiers. So, we think that Marc Andre Ter Stegen should be given the chance the chance ahead of Manuel Neuer.

 

4. Lack Of Confidence Initial Confidence In Marco Reus :

 

Joachim Low has not started Marco Reus in the opening game of Germany against Mexico. Things could well be all different for Germany if Marco Reus has started against Mexico and scored one goal. In the next match against Sweden, Marco Reus has started the come back process of Germany against Sweden.

 

5. Thomas Muller And Mesut Ozil Have Become Liabilities :

 

The time has probably come for Mesut Ozil and Thomas Muller to finish their International football career after this sort of performance in the World Cup. The German side should concentrate on building on a new young side which will again take them to the top once again in the World football.
