France are the new World champions now, as they won their second World Cup title. The French side has bagged up their second-ever Golden Trophy after 20 years. It was Zidane who was the protagonist behind the French revolution at that time and now it is Griezmann who lead the side to the victory line. Lloris did an amazing job at the back and acted like a true wall in front of the nets. Mbappe showed why he is being called the wonder kid where he destroyed the Argentine defence only with his pace and speed. France deserved the gold medal though Croatia showed some real fighting spirit. France had a tough midfield support where Pogba and Kante were instrumental. Tolisso and Matuidi were used precisely by Didier Deschamps where N’Zonzi got only a few minutes as the fresh leg.
The French midfielder though got no big attention from Deschamps but was having some good times in the transfer rumours. The Sevilla guy was being linked with Arsenal, though the deal is no more in talks as the reports suggested. Things got fermented where Arsenal manager Unai Emery called him to congratulate his success at World Cup.
The 29-year-old was contacted by the Gunners throughout the World Cup and it has been suggested that Emery had personal admiration for the midfielder.
N’Zonzi played under Emery for a single season at Sevilla and helped the club win the Europa League in 2016. It is rumoured that Arsenal has found better alternatives so that they pulled over their interests over the French midfielder. When Emery was asked about his plans about N’Zonzi, he said that they haven’t made a move for him. Sevilla is said to be open to selling N’Zonzi this summer though they haven’t found any interests his £35 million release clause.
Arsenal have already signed Lucas Torreira from Sampdoria, who has been terrific for Uruguay in the World Cup. Arsenal is definitely looking for further reinforcements. The Gunners have signed some serious potentials this time. Stephan Lichtsteiner along with goalkeeper Bernd Leno and Sokratis Papastathopoulos are mentionable. N’Zonzi is reported to be desperate to leave La Liga and join the Premier League.
As the London journalist Charles Watts has said that N’Zonzi is a player whom Arsenal and more specifically Emery would like. That particular pair worked together at Sevilla and so the Spanish manager is well aware of his qualities. Though the move is highly unlikely at least for this summer due to the insufficiency of money.
Though there may happen several incidents. If Arsenal gets rid of Aaron Ramsey, then they may look to bring in a new midfielder, though they would prefer but they a more attacking player than the Frenchman. N’Zonzi played some crucial minutes in the World Cup. He was used five times, though four out of them were being substituted.
The major role he played out of them all was in final. Deschamps used him in place of Kante and gave Pogba a free role and guess what, the Manchester United midfielder struck the most valuable goal of his lifetime. N’Zonzi may leave La Liga for sure but Arsenal may be not his destination.
