As the World Cup fever is rising high day by day, the transfer window is getting busier by the induction. Every day there are heroes who are coming in the news and the Danish keeper is one of them. Though, Denmark lost the knockout game against Croatia but won the hearts of millions around the globe. How they gave the fight against the well organised Croatian attack was simply admirable. The world witnessed two great keepers that day who fought to their last blood drops. Subasic for Croatia and Kasper Schmeichel for Denmark. The latter also saved the vital penalty from Modric, though couldn’t save the match. Moreover, according to the recent news, the Danish keeper is being linked with Chelsea and the Italian giants Roma, along with Liverpool and Manchester United. Both the clubs have targeted the Leicester City keeper as a potential new No 1 as both their current incumbents may depart in the summer transfer window.
The Belgian keeper Thibaut Courtois is highly rumoured to join Real Madrid this summer where the Brazilian keeper Alisson is being linked with an Anfield move. Schmeichel has just ended his World Cup journey in Russia after Denmark were defeated on penalties by Croatia in the last 16 on Sunday.
Though he saved three penalties in that particular match, one in extra time from Luka Modric and two in the shootout procedure, but Croatia emerged victorious with a 3-2 win from the spot after the match ended 1-1. The 31-year-old was instrumental in Leicester’s shocking Premier League title win in 2015-16.
The Champion League semi-finalists Roma have been tracking Alisson since last summer, but it seems Real Madrid have boosted up their chances to grab the Brazil No.1. The transfer procedures are hindered momentarily as the manager issue is still on hold at the Stamford Bridge. Maurizio Sarri is being rumoured to replace the Italian manager at Bridge where the club must pay a substantial amount of compensation and will also owe Sarri’s former club, Napoli, a hefty sum too.
According to Ian Marmion, Schmeichel’s performance against Croatia demonstrated the goalkeeper’s talents on the global stage. Liverpool is also interested on this Danish man and may cash in for him too this summer.
The Reds’ current duo Loris Karius and Simon Mignolet have failed terribly this last season and Jurgen Klopp is searching for a new potential option before the next season kicks off. Though Manchester United, the land of his father, Peter Schmeichel, is also in the race though it seems Roma and Chelsea are quite ahead of them.
There is no doubt whether Schmeichel is looking for a move away from Leicester, though he is a hugely influential member of the dressing room. It is obvious that Schmeichel would definitely look forward to being the first-choice goalkeeper at another club. Courtois has been sensational last season for the Blues, though his recent form doesn’t defy his own class. Courtois was sloppy in the last game too, where Schmeichel may bring new attire to the Premier League side.
