Shocking Update On The Future Of Julian Brandt Wanted By Liverpool

Jurgen Klopp is prepared to make a move for Bayer Leverkusen winger Julian Brandt to Liverpool in this summer transfer window. The Reds are keen to bolster their squad in order to push for a Premier League title and add some silverware to their trophy cabinet, as the German manager is yet to win his first title with the Merseyside outfit. Liverpool’s dream run in the Champions League came to a heartbreaking halt in the final against La Liga giants Real Madrid, which they ended up losing due to multiple reasons.

Two goalkeeping errors from Loris Karius cost the Reds dear but one issue that was also underlined was lack of attacking players available to play. Emre Can, Alex Oxlade Chamberlain, Daniel Sturridge and Danny Ings were unavailable due to injury worries as Liverpool succumbed to defeat with a half-fit Adam Lallana coming off the bench for club talisman Mohamed Salah.

When Philippe Coutinho left for Barcelona back in the January transfer window, there was a massive void left at the club which is yet to be filled, though the Reds did not spend at that point of time. The Brazilian’s departure from Anfield has still been felt in bits and pieces and Klopp is finally set to address this issue this summer with the addition of Julian Brandt as the play-maker’s replacement.

Brandt was sensational for the Bundesliga outfit last summer netting 12 times and notching up three assists as well in 39 appearances for Bayer Leverkusen. The 22-year-old winger has already made 19 appearances for his national side Germany and was involved in all three games during the FIFA World Cup as the defending champions were shockingly eliminated out of the first round in Group F.

However, Brandt’s incredible performances for his club and country have attracted a lot of attention from top clubs across the continent, regarding a move away from the Bay Arena this summer which could possibly happen now.

After a deal for French play-maker Nabil Fekir collapsed earlier this summer, Liverpool is looking at other options to add firepower to their attack. Brandt has been one of the top targets for Klopp and is on contract with Leverkusen until June 2021 who values him at a price of £36m.

Brandt has been with Leverkusen since 2014 and is one of the brightest prospects for the future of Germany. He is a top player, there is no denying that and the Kops know his true worth.

Liverpool finished fourth in the Premier League last season and Klopp is aware that the competition in the league is immensely tight. Manchester City smashed plenty of records as they stormed their way to the Premier League title and Pep Guardiola’s side is playing some lovely attacking football.

However, Liverpool has already made a decent start to the summer transfer window after securing deals for Naby Keita from Red Bull Leipzig as well as Fabinho from AS Monaco. Adding Brandt to that list would be great for Liverpool as he would fit in well with Mohamed Salah, Sadio Mane and Roberto Firmino in the attacking third for the Reds.
