Manchester United and Chelsea are preparing to go on a bidding war to land 22 year old Serbian international Sergej-Milinkovic-Savic from Lazio. The Italian club have made it clear that they will not accept a Euro below 100m and the Red Devils and the Blues are in a desperate need of a playmaker, Milinkovic-Savic fits the bill certainly and given his age he could boss either of the midfield for almost more than a decade if he manages to settle in the physicality of the Premier League.
The President of Lazio has however admitted that they will only accept ‘Indecent offers’ for the Serbian, Lotito also went on to say that ‘I never put Milinkovic-Savic on sale, As with everything, Indecent offers will be evaluated. In the interest of the club, I’ve never taken a emolument, unlike many of my colleagues, You need to be a character, a personality. To represent this club, you need to give your life for this club. The expectations are very huge and I’m afraid now.
He went on to add ‘ If you said to me “Patrice, you will play for Manchester United, but you won’t get paid”, I would play for this club, So, If he has that mentality I won’t ask him to say that he doesn’t want any money but if he decides to leave and go play there and makes sure that he dies for the club, I will really be happy’, These statements clearly show that the club have their best interests at heart and will allow the Serbian international to leave if a right offer is put on the table.
Savic is yet to make a decision on his future and time is clearly running out for the premier league duo as the transfer window will be shut by the 9th of august and if they plan to make a move on the 22 year old now would certainly be the right time, Manchester United to be honest do not need to sign Milinkovic-Savic as they possess the likes of Paul Pogba, Juan Mata and Jesse Lingaard they should look to fill the void left by long serving midfield general Michael Carrick and should look to sign a good holding midfielder and Savic clearly isn’t one.
Chelsea could make the best use of Sergej Milinkovic-Savic as they lack a left central midfielder someone who can play with Jorginho and N’golo Kante, with newly appointed manager Maurizio Sarri favoring that his team attacks more from the left flank and Savic can really wreak havoc their by being surrounded by the likes of Eden Hazard, Jorginho and Kante. The 22 year old had a great season last term as he scored 12 goals in the domestic league and managed to average about 2.9 shots per game, he was only outperformed by Napoli’s Marek Hamsik and this trait has caught the eye of Sarri and wants him to emulate the Slovakian.
AC Milan were said to be eyeing an ambitions loan move for the star, though that might not really happen.
In my opinion Milinkovic-Savic would best be fit at Chelsea and can even be a fan favorite at the Stamford Bridge, as he is fit to play in such a system which the likes of Sarri and Pep Guardiola demand but the price may fend off interests from the Blues as they are not known to break the bank and give in for such enormous demands of the selling club, Hence the Red Devils would have no competition to secure the services of the Serbian international.
