Manchester United Fans Name Star As Worst Signing By Club In Recent Times

Things are not looking too bright for Jose Mourinho’s side, as they failed to beat Wolves at home. The Premier League giants welcomes their domestic rivals to Old Trafford on Saturday, in a game which was expected to be a comfortable win for the Red Devils. However, that was not the case, as it ended up being a draw for Manchester United, who were finally braced by the presence of Sir Alex Ferguson at The Theatre of Dreams.

The game ended 1-1, with summer signing Fred scoring the only goal for the home side, in a match that did not produce too many chances. The attack of the two teams rather looked weak, with the visitors having quite a few good attempts at De Gea’s goal, with the Spaniard once again saving his team from dropping more points.

Despite that, one United player who could not perform yet again was Alexis Sanchez and the crowd did not take to his showing rather kindly, as the team failed to secure all three points. After the game, the fans termed the Chilean international as the club’s worst signing in recent years.

The attacker was taken off in the 63rd minute to be replaced by Spaniard Juan Mata, with Mourinho looking to turn things around for his side. He failed to make any sort of impact in the game and it did cost the home team the chance to take back all three points from the match.

His team-mates were equally responsible for the poor showing, yet once again the fans were ruthless and targetted one of their key signings from January as the main reason for their failure to win. In the 23 games that he has played for the Manchester based side, since his signed from Arsenal, the winger has scored just thrice.

He has no goals for the team so far this term and does not look the same player that he was at the Emirates. His lacklustre performances have not just frustrated the fans, but the player himself and it seems that the manager might consider dropping him from the first-team soon, if things do not change now.

There is no doubt that Sanchez was given chances ahead of the likes of Martial and Rashford and this has not made the Old Trafford faithful any happier. The duo have not been given enough opportunities to showcase their talent in recent times and have been linked with a move away from the club, due to this very reason.

With Sanchez taking up the opportunities and not performing, it has forced the fans to turn on him now and they have termed him the worst signing for the club in recent times. United are at present 8 points behind league leaders Liverpool and it will be interesting to see how the player reacts to his critics now.

The team needs to turn things around and fast if they wish to be part of the title challenge this term. If they continue to play the way that they are at present, they will not be able to be a part of the title picture and might struggle in other cup competitions as well.
