Match Report: A Stalemate At Stamford Bridge Between Chelsea And Liverpool Takes Manchester City To The Top Of The Table

The game between Chelsea and Liverpool has ended with the scoreline of 1-1 with both teams having plenty of chances to win the match. With this result, both the teams are still unbeaten in the Premier League so far. Eden Hazard gave the Blues the all needed first goal of the match while Daniel Sturridge’s stunner at the 89th minute of the match was enough for Liverpool to get one point from Stamford Bridge.

Maurizio Sarri and Jurgen Klopp both have opted to go with their strongest sides in this match. Chelsea and Liverpool are now situated at top three in the Premier League. So, the result was really important for both the sides in this match. There were several changes in both the starting lineups in this match for both the sides. Klopp and Sarri both wanted to win this match badly. But Chelsea have felt the absence of Pedro badly in this match. The manager will hope that the Spaniard will be fit to play against Southampton in the next week. Chelsea will play against Mol Vidi in the midweek in the Europa League match on Thursday. We will hope that Maurizio Sarri will rotate his squad in the Europa League to keep the players fit for the Premier League matches.

The match was a brilliant one to watch out for the football fans all over the World. Chelsea were looking like to snatch the game away from Liverpool with Eden Hazard’s brilliant goal till the very last minute of the match. Mateo Kovacic has provided a brilliant ball to Eden Hazard who has netted the ball in the Goal with ease. The match was well poised; but Mohamed Salah was unable to score after beating Kepa Arrizabalaga. Antonio Rudiger has saved the shot of Mohamed Salah as it was taken by his weaker right foot. The first half has ended with a scoreline of 1-1 at Stamford Bridge.

Mateo Kovacic was brilliant for the Blues in this match; he has literally controlled the tempo of the match for Chelsea. Willian has missed two clear cut opportunities for Chelsea while Firmino’s thumping header was also saved by David Luiz from the Goalline. Chelsea defense were seeming to be intact till the very end of the match. But then comes the individual brilliance of Daniel Sturridge. Sturridge has got the ball from Xherdan Shaqiri in the midfield area. The English striker has received the ball and took the shot. His left footed curler has hit the top corner of the net which has given Liverpool one point in this match and it was much needed for them to stay in the contention to win the Premier League in this season.

Jurgen Klopp took Mohamed Salah, Henderson and James Milner off the field in the second half, not just to change the tactics, but to give them the adequate rest before the match on Wednesday against Napoli at Italy. It will be a hectic week for the Reds as they have to travel to Manchester again on next Sunday to face Manchester City in the Premier League next week.
