3. Marouane Fellaini:
Fellaini has always been a force to reckon with in the Belgian colours. Plying his trade as a defensive midfielder, Fellaini puts his burly physique to good use and has been quite industrious when it came to bridging the gap between Kevin De Bruyne and Eden Hazard.
Fellaini’s towering stature has also been an eminent force in set-pieces to bedevil the opposition. However, in the colours of United, Fellaini has rarely been successful.
Not only did his wasteful nature add to United’s woes, his silly errors in the defence left the Devils rearguard split open to a barrage of goals.
At times he simply keeps on running across the entire pitch sans any proper objective and becomes more of a liability to United.
Instead of being a meaty force in the set-pieces, he is still to gauge that what should be an accurate run to put United in the lead.
He has also needlessly got himself booked in several games due to some altercations and fisticuffs which he picked up in the course of the match thereby driving his team into further quagmires.
When he came out in place of a reticent Martial in the Brighton match, he silenced the entire United attack instead of adding an edge to it.
Earlier it would have been a quandary that who would have bridged the void in the defensive midfield if the Belgian giant was sold. However, now with Nemanja Matic, an instrumental defensive midfielder so far and also with the Spanish talent, Ander Herrera, United can let Fellaini take an exit.
