Confirmed: Chelsea Star Keen To Sign New Deal With The Blues (Not Hazard)

The Spanish left-back who was used as the left midfielder in Conte’s false nine, Marcos Alonso is happy in Chelsea and may seek no high-class transfer this winter. The Spaniard was highly linked to the La Liga side Real Madrid and Atlético Madrid before the inauguration of the current season but it seems he may continue under the new manager safe and sound. Chelsea have got their new manager this season and they are unbeaten till yet. Maurizio Sarri has changed the ultimatum of the squad. While Conte was defensive, the former Napoli manager is offensive in nature. Sarri has made the people believe that Chelsea too can offer some brilliant offensive football.

Moreover, back on the Alonso issue, Chelsea star Marcos Alonso is closing in on signing a new long-term deal at Chelsea. Though the Spaniard has been linked to Spanish giants Real Madrid.

The 27-year-old has been at Stamford Bridge for two years now after signing in 2016 from Italian side Fiorentina. In this small course of time at Stamford Bridge, he has already won the Premier League and the FA Cup, as well as being named in last season’s PFA Team of the Year. When the left back was asked about his future at Bridge he said that what he can say is that he is very relaxed and happy at Chelsea and that the club must also be pleased with him because he still has two years left on the contract and they have offered me an extension. Alonso also said that they are already in advanced talks about a renewal and if everything goes well, he thinks that he will renew before the end of this month in the coming days.

Alonso has already made over 100 appearances for the Blues and has been a regular for the Blues this season. Where he was used as the left wingback under the Italian manager Antonio Conte, now he has started every league game at left-back under Maurizio Sarri.

When he was asked that what position he really prefers he said that he feels comfortable with both formulae and he was also the part of a three-man defence in Italy [with Fiorentina], which went very well for him. As he said thay he liked playing on the wings, especially because of the offensive opportunities that it allows.

Though his natural position is left-back in a defensive four as he admitted and also said that, one have to be ready to help the team in whatever the manager requires. However, Alonso already has family connections to Real Madrid. The Spaniard’s grandfather Marcos Alonso Imaz spent eight years with Los Blancos, winning five La Liga titles and five European Cups.

In addition to this, his Chelsea team-mates have been in connection with Real Madrid. The Belgian Golden Gloves winner Thibaut Courtois already made the switch to the Santiago Bernabéu in August, while Chelsea’s star man Eden Hazard has always spoken of his admiration to play for the Spanish club.
