Former Chelsea Superstar Takes Up New Role With Championship Side

There were claims that John Terry would be possibly coming back to Stamford Bridge in the near future and take up a role in Maurizio Sarri’s staff, with the Italian manager offering him a role under his supervision. However, despite all the claims it seems that the terms have not worked out between Chelsea and that the former centre-back, due to which he has taken up the job of becoming the assistant manager at Aston Villa, the club he was last playing with.

The report further confirms that the 37 year old defender will work along with new boss Dean Smith and Jesus Garcia Pitarch. The latter made his name with La Liga giants Valencia and Atletico Madrid a decade ago and has now taken over as the Sporting Director of the Villans.

The player recently announced his retirement from football and was considering a return to west London in the recent weeks. The Championship based side at that point of time were considering hiring Thierry Henry. With the Frenchman deciding to stay with Belgium back then and eventually planning to take over at Monaco, the club had to look at alternatives.

Well, they did and eventually it seems that the former England skipper will now be having a role at the club as well. He has been one of the most successful skippers in the top flight of English football and can surely bring in his experience and help the youngsters grow.

Another factor will be that he has been playing with them for quite some time now, since moving to Villa Park back in 2017. Incidentally, the person who made the announcement is none other than the CEO of the Championship based side, Christian Purslow, who was previously the marketing director for the Blues. He left his job in west London last year and returned to working in professional football at the club, when the new season started.

Something positive happening for the former Chelsea faithful, who have now reunited at a new club. Another member of the blue brand at the club is loanee Tammy Abraham, with all eyes on him now to leave his mark if he wishes to make big things happen for him.

The main concern will be that Sarri and the fans of the London based club will be unhappy that he did not make the move back to the club where he started playing since 1995. However, it seems that the Englishman has some big plans and might want to return to the Bridge as a manager.

He will join the likes of Frank Lampard, who is at the moment incharge of Derby County, the team that knocked out Manchester United from the League Cup on penalties. Things are just looking great for the ex Chelsea stars and hopefully some of them can return to the club and once again contribute to their success, when the time is right.

For now, we wish Terry and co., along with Tammy Abraham the very best for their future.
