Things are not looking good for England international Danny Welbeck once again, as he had suffered a serious ankle injury in Arsenal’s Europa League clash against Sporting Lisbon. The former Manchester United man has not been having the best of times since making the move to the Emirates back in 2014 and has been fighting injury problems ever since. Just as he was making progress in north London under the new manager, it seems that his career will be once again taking a halt.
With that being said, it was a sad incident that occurred mid-week and manager Unai Emery was not happy with the same. He had issued a statement about the Englishman’s committment to the Gunners’ cause and how he was a vital player for the team, though he was not a regular starter.
He has helped to fill in a key void and had given the Spaniard the luxury of playing both Lacazette and Aubameyang together, as the season has gone on. This is something that has led to added success to their play. Also, Welbeck is a versatile player, who can play as a front-man or on the wings.
Even in training, he was spotted playing as a left-back, which was something unique, when the likes of Monreal and Kolasnic were out injured. His contribution both on and off the pitch has been superb and he has really been a manager’s player, not just for Emery, but for Arsene Wenger too.
Despite all the praises, there were some rumours going around that the player might never play again. These were quite sad to hear and the fans were wondering what exactly was going on in this case, waiting for an update.
It seems that the north Londoners’ official website has finally given an update on this injury that Welbeck has suffered. A recent statement made by them read as, Danny remains in hospital and will continue to be assessed. A further update will be issued over the next 72 hours.”
Well, even the commentators at the game between Arsenal and Wolves, which the Gunners were losing 1-0, suggested that it was still unknown when he would be returning to action. The 27 year old superstar has quite a few years ahead of him and the fans will be hoping that he can return to action soon.
He is a good player with a lot of pace on and off the ball, though injuries have forced him to be on the sidelines for quite some time now. Emery saw the potential that he had, as he helped his team make a positive start to the new campaign. However, he will now be missed and everyone at the club will be hoping that he is able to make his return to action soon.
A player who was signed by former boss Arsene Wenger has grown with time and is really liked by the club faithful. Whether he will be able to make a quick return to the team or not after this horrific injury, remains to be seen.
