The Devils are back in winning track in the English league. After their devastating loss to West Ham, Manchester United have managed to maintain themselves unbeaten in four league matches including today when they beat Bournemouth by a 2-1 margin. Martial scored the equaliser at the 35th minute where Wilson scored for the opening goal for the home side. Though the game diverted to the visiting side in the injury time when Marcus Rashford scored the winning goal. Manchester United have now crawled up to the 7th position with six wins in eleven games. However, the start hasn’t been up to the mark for the Red Devils and the rumours appear that the Portuguese manager Jose Mourinho may leave Old Trafford this time.
Manchester United boss Mourinho has been under-fire throughout this season in this early phase as the club is struggling for lift-off in the Premier League. However, it has been reported that Mourinho remains frustrated with Manchester United’s summer activity as the club only managed to sign three players. It was Lee Grant, Diogo Dalot and Fred, who were the only newcomers despite Mourinho desired to reinforce.
The Portuguese were desperate for a defender and a wide forward and according to the Manchester United gossips, Mourinho still wants both positions filled. It would be the first time in the history of 10 years for United that they have signed more than one player in a January transfer window since Zoran Tosic and Adem Ljajic joined from Partizan Belgrade. It has been reported that Mourinho is at stake for his job though the upturn in results in recent weeks has given him some breathing space.
Mourinho is also suffering from relationship issues with his players and has been called into question after flare-ups with Paul Pogba, Anthony Martial and Alexis Sanchez. However, Mourinho is not a man of giving up hope so easily and said to believe that he can get United back in the title race if new recruits are signed in January. On the other hand Antonio Conte is being reported to be interested in replacing Jose Mourinho as Manchester United manager. The 49-year-old Italian was sacked by Chelsea this summer and has been in the race to take over at Real Madrid after the sack of Julen Lopetegui was on Monday evening.
Though things didn’t go that way and Madrid have promoted Santiago Solari from their Castilla side to manage the first team on a temporary basis after talks with Conte hit a stumbling block. Madrid are culturing alternatives of Conte and according to the news, the club president Florentino Perez is considering bringing Jose Mourinho back to the Santiago Bernabeu. It is natural that Conte is well aware of Madrid’s interest in re-hiring Mourinho and then he would be keen on taking over at Old Trafford if the 55-year-old decides to return to Spain. Conte has managed United midfielder Paul Pogba once in his two successful years at Juventus and that makes him in the comfort seat.
