Aaron Ramsey is set to depart Emirates in the summer next season. It is reported that the Welshman is heading towards Turin. However Italian midfield maestro and footballing legend Andrea Pirlo personally approved the move for Juventus claiming Ramsey to be a strong player and perfect fit for Juventus.
Juventus are currently top of the Serie A table with a nine-point lead over their rivals Napoli. The lead is not something unnatural as the Bianconeri has been winning the Scudetto for seven seasons on the bounce and Massimiliano Allegri’s men are ready to make it eight this season.
Despite all the domination in Italy, Allegri wants to bolster his side and adding someone of Aaron Ramsey’s stature will be a huge boost for the Bianconeris.
According to Pirlo, it is a great move for his former club and the Italian legend is all praises for the Welshman. He said, “Juventus are preparing another excellent deal. He is a strong player and could do very well.”
Juventus have made this a habit to capture players on free transfers and by this policy, they have secured signatures of some of the top stars from other European clubs.
Pirlo himself joined Juventus after his contract expired with AC Milan back in 2011. This season the Old Lady have captured Liverpool midfielder, Emre Can with Dani Alves also arriving at Turin back in 2016 from FC Barcelona.
One of the standout free transfer also involves German veteran midfielder Sami Khedira. The 31-year old World Cup winner joined Juventus back in 2015 from Real Madrid and has gone onto feature 118 times for the Old Lady netting 20 goals and has been a stalwart in the middle of the park.
Ramsey, however, has been quiet about his future aspirations and where he would finally end up. Despite knowing the consequences Unai Emery has utilised him regularly making him an important player for the Gunners.
Things were very different at the start of the season, and the Spanish tactician was all praises about the 28-year old and it seemed like a new contract was coming his way.
“I am very happy with him,” said Emery in August.
“For me, every day, every training session, he has the ambition I want.
“He is working with a quality, the type of ability that I want. I want to work with him.”
Eventually, the tables did turn and the Welshman is now on his way out of North London. Ramsey has been at Arsenal from 10 long years and has truly become a fan favourite of the loyal Gunners. The Wales international joined Arsenal back in 2008 from his native Cardiff City, making 250 appearances for the Gunners and netting 37 goals in the process.
It will definitely leave a huge void in the Arsenal squad and Ramsey is one of those midfielders who had the knack of finding the back of the net at times. With all the concerns with their back-line, Emery will also have his task cut out to find an ideal replacement for someone like Ramsey.
Arsenal are currently just below the Champions League spots as the Gunners are two points off four placed Chelsea. After an underwhelming 1-1 draw against Brighton and Hove Albion Emery’s men will look to get a better result against league leaders Liverpool.
