After Torreira, Arsenal Target High Quality South American Stars For January

Arsenal boss Unai Emery is planning for a major overhaul for Arsenal in the winter transfer window as the supporters will be up for a very exciting bit of business from their club. The Spanish tactician has been linked with Brazilian forward Wesley Moraes and experienced Argentina international Ever Banega.

It is obvious that Unai Emery will need two or three transfer windows to rebuild the Arsenal squad and it seems like the Spaniard has started working pretty well. The arrival of the former Paris Saint Germain boss has rejuvenated the Gunners making it 20 games unbeaten for the North London side with the recent fixture ending in a 2-2 draw against Manchester United at the Old Trafford.

The Sun is claiming that the Arsenal boss wants to make some changes to his ranks and is potentially interested in Club Brugge’s Wesley Moraes. The young forward has attracted interest from other clubs in Europe like Fiorentina and Valencia. The 22-year old Brazilian joined the Belgian outfit from Slovakia where he used to ply his trade, AS Trencin. The young Samba has netted 10 goals in all competitions for Brugge this season.

The 22-year old is tied down to a long-term contract in Brugges until 2023 and Arsenal are weighing up a £15m move for the exciting Club Brugge forward. Emery currently needs to battle it out against the likes of Valencia and Fiorentina. The Spanish tactician looks to add more versatility to his attack and wants more competition to the likes of Pierre Emerick Aubameyang and Alexandre Lacazette.

The rumors were going on for some time but they got, even more, stronger when Sky Sports claimed that Arsenal will not hold back Danny Welbeck after his contract expires in June. The former Manchester United man is set to miss the whole of this season with an injury on his right knee after he fell awkwardly on it.

The Sun further opens up on Unai Emery’s interest to reunite with Sevilla midfielder Ever Banega. The experienced Argentine has played under Emery at both Sevilla and Valencia in Spain and hence he shares a good relationship with the current Arsenal man. The duo won three successive Europa League titles during their time in Sevilla. Banega is a workhorse who will add in both the fronts, in creativity and also add that bite going forward, if Emery can get this deal done in January then Banega will be a huge addition to his current side.

Ever Banega was a target which Emery thought of signing since the time he came at the Emirates. The 30-year old Argentine midfielder also credited his decision to join Sevilla was mostly because of the Spaniard. So Unai Emery is again looking to use that relationship among the two as a bait to bring to Emirates.

The 30-year old midfielder has made 14 appearances in the La Liga for Sevilla and has notched up two goals and two assists. However, goals are to assist are not a parameter to judge Banega its all about the shift he puts on the pitch as a deep-lying play-maker by creating balls for the forwards as well as cutting passing lanes in midfield and bailing out defenders from time to time. He is definitely one of the most underrated midfielders playing in Europe.
