The two North London clubs are in an intriguing battle to finish in the top of the Premier League table and need some re-enforcements in order to secure Champions League football for next season.
The January transfer market is nearing and clubs across the European continent are marking down their top transfer targets in the upcoming window. One club that is desperate to lure in some new players will be Mauricio Pochettino’s Tottenham Hotspur as the white side of North London did not strengthen their squad back in the summer transfer window. Unlike their fiercest of rivals Spurs, Arsenal did make some quality signings and they have had some serious effect on the outlook of the club as this current squad has shown amass improvement and taken strides forward from the days of Arsene Wenger.
With the title race arguably out of the question and decided by leaders of the pack Liverpool and second placed Manchester City, there seems room for two more clubs to secure a top 4 berth at the end of the season. Three of the London clubs in the form of Chelsea, Tottenham and Arsenal are in the hunt for the other two spots and one of them will miss out. But Arsenal are keen on re-entering the Champions League and look the real deal under Unai Emery, who has transformed the club majorly in just a short stint. The Spaniard is keen on strengthen in this squad even more as he plans a winter recruitment of Bundesliga superstar Hannes Wolf.
Wolf has been absolutely incredible for Austrian outfit RedBull Salzburg this season and has attracted interest from several top suitors across the continent with his impressive displays. Having netted four goals and notched up two assists in all competitions, the 19 year old Wolf looks like a promising talent who could take his game to the next level at another club where he has better players around him. Wolf is strong and a versatile midfielder who can make that creative pass in the attacking third and add goals to his name as well.
Arsenal will face competition from their most hated rivals in the League Tottenham Hotspur. The white side of North London has some quality midfielders in their ranks but with Danish superstar Christian Eriksen being scouted by La Liga giants Real Madrid, there is a possibility that he could leave. So Spurs are viewing Wolf as a successor to Eriksen at Tottenham.
The Gunners are also struggling to come to an agreement regarding extending Welshman Aaron Ramsey’s contract as the 27 year old looks set to depart the Emirates in the summer. There is even speculation around Mesut Ozil’s future as the German star could move away from Arsenal some time soon. Therefore, Arsenal are keeping their options open and keeping tabs on Wolf for the winter transfer window.
