The winter window is on for the English Premier League and English teams are all on their way to pick their needs. One part of the league is already finished and one can see someone at the top, who is there after a decade. Liverpool are leading the table with a lead of four points from the defending champions, who are in the second position right now. Manchester City are just a sort of or win from the Reds and Guardiola would have been concerned about that fact. However, regarding the transfer window, it seemed that the Reds would need no new faces in the squad.
Despite the departure of Dominic Solanki and Nathan Clyne, Liverpool seemed silent in the transfer window. However, the recent rumours are spreading something interesting. Liverpool have expressed their interest on the Red Bull Leipzig star Timo Werner.
Though not only the Reds but the Gunners have also shown interest among the Premier League clubs. Werner was part of the Germany World Cup squad last summer and has caught the eye of Unai Emery and Liverpool boss Jurgen Klopp. With the two English sides, Bayern Munich are also reportedly interested.
The German striker is on the verge of his contract, which is set to expire at the end of next season. Though it is not sure whether the striker would be available as Leipzig chiefs are keen to secure a long-term deal for the 22-year-old. Leipzig have reportedly informed that if Werner doesn’t agree to terms on a new deal then only he will be sold at the end of the season. Sources are reporting that Liverpool and Chelsea are interested in the star, while others are saying about the links of Bayern Munich and Arsenal are also.
RB Leipzig chief executive Oliver Mintzlaff has confirmed that the German club will look into offloading the striker if they are unable to make him agree on a deal by the end of the season. As the chief said that a club like them cannot afford to go with Timo Werner into the final year of his contract. He also said that it is logical that such a player should be courted by clubs that have a very different sporting perspectives and different financial possibilities than they have.
Though as long as they evolve as a club, Champions League participation would be very helpful for them according to chief.
Moreover, Leipzig are currently fourth in the Bundesliga and eleven points behind the leaders Borussia Dortmund. Werner is still the top goal scorer of Bundesliga and have netted 11 times this campaign. In December, he scored five goals in five games. As the Premier League leaders Liverpool just have offloaded Dominic Solanke, it is possible that they would make a move for the star as a replacement.
However, rumours are also chirping about the return of Coutinho to Anfield. One possibility is there in this January for one of Liverpool’s prodigal sons to return to Anfield. The Brazilian left Anfield for Camp Nou during the winter window last season but has struggled to establish the same level of influence he has on the Merseyside.
