Chelsea Target Wants To Sign For Liverpool, Which Club Will Get This Deal Done?

French international Nabil Fekir has told French media that he is still open to a move to another club after his dream move to Liverpool didn’t materialize last summer. It was extremely close as the French world cup winner went through almost all the formalities to become a Liverpool player but fate had some other story written and the deal fell through and Fekir’s dream move couldn’t materialize.

However the Lyon midfielder claims that he is still open to depart France and join any other club if a proper deal comes through. Liverpool though may have moved on it is the player who is in limbo and still retains the Red as his favourite club even after the transfer saga last summer. But the French midfielder is not holding only Liverpool as the only option as he wants a move to a bigger club in Europe and wants to win the biggest accolades in the continent.

Fekir’s contract at Olympique Lyon runs until the summer of 2020 but with him, openly speaking about moving to a bigger club means that the French midfielder may depart even before his contract ends with Lyon.

Talking about a move to Anfield, Fekir said, “I am happy at Lyon, but which player does not dream of discovering a new league, another club?”

On Chelsea’s interest, Fekir told French publication Le Progres (via GFFN ) that they had not called him. Lyon hope to extend Nabil Fekir’s as the World cup winner confirmed that the talks are going on as he wants to play a big role in the side as long as he is there in France.

He said, “Discussions are ongoing. I have sat down with the president, things are advancing slowly.”

“When will I take a decision? I am not fixing myself a date, I am not in a rush. Nobody is putting any pressure on it and I like to take my time.”

The dynamic midfielder thrives on the role as a primary playmaker but can also show his capabilities when slotted on either flank. Fekir’s inspiring performances for Lyon has helped them string some important wins. The 25-year-old has netted 11 goals alongside his 5 assists and has emerged as a vital cog for manager Bruno Genesio’s Lyon.

With players like Daniel Sturridge and Divock Origi up in Klopp’s selling list, there can be funds and room for the French world cup winner to complete his long awaiting move to Anfield. Young Dominic Solanke already saw his way out of Anfield this season and with Liverpool and Klopp going for the kill in both Premier League and also in the UEFA Champions League, the Reds require squad depth.

The season has entered in the business end, the phase where no one the teams can afford to put a foot wrong and for Liverpool, it is more pressure as they want to win Premier League and they aren’t going to make things easy in the knockout stages of Champions League either. So a signing like Nabil Fekir could have been a proper statement and would have added the firepower that Klopp’s front three desperately miss after the departure of Philippe Coutinho.
