Liverpool And West Ham Interested In Signing Forward, Update By Agent Given

According to the latest reports, Brazilian forward Gabriel Barbosa’s agent has revealed the details as to why his client did not sign a deal with either Premier League club West Ham United or Liverpool in the summer transfer window. The talented forward was tipped to join a big name club in England, but was instead sent out on loan to South American side Flamengo by Serie A club Inter Milan in January.

Jurgen Klopp’s Liverpool is currently sitting pretty at the top of the Premier League table at the moment as they hold a four-point lead over 2nd placed side Manchester City who are on 53 points at the moment, 22 games into the season. The Reds have notched up 50 goals already and look like serious title contenders with a stubborn defense who are keen on winning the Premier League title after 29 long years.

The terrifying front three of Mohamed Salah, Sadio Mane and Roberto Firmino are all looking quite dangerous and finally seem to be clicking together at the right time. However, Klopp is aware that he needs to sign a few more quality players in order to dethrone Manchester City who broke plenty of records last term when they waltzed their way to 100 points and the Premiership as well. A deal for Lyon talisman Nabil Fekir fell through at the last moment as the Frenchman failed a medical test and it seems like the German manager has missed out on another attacking target in the form of Gabriel Barbosa who was recently sent on loan to Flamengo in the Brazilian Serie A this month from Inter Milan.

Barbosa could have added depth to Liverpool’s squad as English forward Dominic Solanke left Anfield to join Bournemouth this month and Daniel Sturridge will be out of contract at the end of the summer as it looks unlikely that he will sign a contract extension. He could have been the perfect back up to Roberto Firmino, who has been in and out of form lately.

Barbosa is a high-quality attacker blessed with pace, skill and a goal scoring instinct. The 22-year-old striker netted 18 times in just 35 appearances for Santos in 2018 when Inter sent him on loan to develop. With talismanic captain and leader Mauro Icardi in the front line, any other forward is surplus to requirements at the San Siro, therefore, was loaned out back to Santos this year until December.

However, Barbosa’s agent Junior Pedroso has now cleared the air and revealed the reason as to why a deal between a Premier League club fell through especially West Ham United, who are in dire need of signing a forward player this month. In a recent talk, Pedroso declared, “West Ham wanted to close the deal quickly because they placed deadlines to do a deal, but we did not reach an agreement,”

With Marko Arnoutovic and Javier Hernandez linked with moves away from the London club, West Ham United are in the hunt to sign a forward as club manager Manuel Pellegrini looks to take the Hammers’ progress forward but were dealt a blow with Barbosa.
