About The Game
After the clash between Chelsea and Crystal Palace, it was Maurizio Sarri’s side that came out on top. The visitors were rather lucky to hold on to the narrow 1-0 win, in a game that could have gone either side. The London derby saw both teams trying to push for all three points, but it was N’Golo Kante’s second half goal that proved to be the only goal and eventually the winner in the match.
The Blues tried their best to push for more from the game, but were equally matched by the Eagles. David Luiz fed the crucial pass that saw the French World Cup winner score the key goal for his side.
He has been given the freedom to push forward and make an impact under Sarri and he has been enjoying the role. Though he has not been getting goals in recent times, things were quite different this time around and he looked a real threat right through the game.
Roy Hodgson would have been disappointed that his team could not score in the game, despite coming close to levelling the score-line quite a few times. Had they taken the chances that they got, things could have been totally different and the Italian manager would have been in trouble.
Giroud Injury And The Update
The Frenchman left Selhurst Park on crutches, after he picked up an ankle injury in the game against Palace. He was badly hurt and was replaced by Alvaro Morata.
However, Sarri had no idea about how serious the injury was and stated that the player would be seeing a doctor, who would confirm the details. Already Fabregas and Pedro are injured, along with Loftus-Cheek, Drinkwater and Calum Hudson-Odi. This could mean trouble for the west Londoners who have some really crucial games coming up in various competitions.
Based on the information that is available as of now, it seems that the attacker will be at least missing a couple of games, though Sarri will want him back for the first leg of the League Cup semi-final against Spurs on the 9th of January.
Update On Morata’s Future
Things are just not going right for the former Juventus and Real Madrid man, who is still struggling to find his feet. He was really poor once again, after coming on as a sub and if he fails to make an impact, could be all set to leave the club this month.
There have been a lot of rumours going around, with the likes of Gonzalo Higuain linked with a move to Stamford Bridge, with a swap being suggested. If the deal does get finalized, it could mean the end of yet another Spanish striker at the Bridge, who really failed to leave his mark (though Torres won the Europa and Champions League titles).
Diego Costa was an exception to this in recent times, though Morata will want to prove his critics wrong and repay Sarri’s trust in the days to come. Hopefully, he can be the same player that he had been in Spain and Italy.
