According to the latest reports, European champions Real Madrid must spend £100m in order to lure Chelsea talisman Eden Hazard to the Santiago Bernabeu in the summer transfer window. The La Liga club is struggling at the moment and needs a player like Hazard to probably lift them up from the slump that they are going through. Since taking over as manager of Chelsea football club in the summer of 2018, Maurizio Sarri has done quite an impressive job being at the forefront of almost everything positive.
The former Napoli master tactician was handed the reins from fellow Italian Antonio Conte and has helped Chelsea to fourth place at the moment in the Premier League table. Chelsea is currently six points ahead of fifth-placed local London rivals Arsenal and just one point behind Mauricio Pochettino’s Tottenham Hotspur.
The Blues have also reached the semi-finals of the League Cup and Sarri has an opportunity to win silverware just half a season into his new job. Chelsea managed to go unscathed in their Europa League Group Stage as well and look like serious contenders for continental glory at the end of the season. With so many things going well and in the right direction for Chelsea, there is only one thing that seems to be scary and something that the Blues faithful will hold their breath for during the January transfer window as the saga that links Eden Hazard to Real Madrid continues.
It is no doubt that Real Madrid is missing Cristiano Ronaldo, as the Portuguese talisman departed the Spanish capital in the summer in a £100m move to Serie A giants Juventus. Ronaldo left Real Madrid as the club’s all-time top goalscorer netting 450 times in nine seasons with the Los Blancos helping them win four Champions League titles. Madrid will never have another Ronaldo as his goals and assists, not to mention his presence on the pitch was irreplaceable but there are only a few players in the world that can come close to filling his boots and Chelsea superstar Eden Hazard is one of them.
The Belgian play-maker has flirted with Real Madrid and the Spanish giants have not made it a secret that they have wanted to sign Hazard in the past and will try and do so in the near future as well. More importantly, as the 28-year-old attacker is stalling a contract extension with Chelsea in order to make his dream move to join the Los Blancos.
With 10 assists and 10 goals this season in the Premier League, Hazard is clearly showing the world that he is the man who could solve Real Madrid’s issues in attack but the Blues are not going to let their best player leave the club at a cut cost price.
With just 18 months left on Hazard’s current deal with Chelsea, the winger has reportedly shied away from a new deal at West London. However, the west London outfit will only allow Hazard to leave if Real Madrid offers a transfer fees of over a £100m.
