A talented youngster and a rich club, would anything be a better combination? Amid the winter transfer talks, this Chelsea young blood has emerged as one of the well-talked names. Callum Hudson Odoi, the 18-years-old teenager is being scouted by the German giants Bayern Munich. The forward is regarded as one of the high potential futures of modern football and Munich want to make him their. The German club had a £20m bid turned down earlier and now they have come back with a new £30m bid offer.
Hudson-Odoi is on the verge of a new contract after seeing his England youth team-mate Jadon Sancho thrive since joining Borussia Dortmund from Manchester City. Renowned Sports pundit Jenas has thrown his backing to the move and has told the forward to go for Bayern.
He has suggested the young kid go and pursue his career at Bayern Munich. He also said that Bayern is a massive club across European football and he is going to be playing, learning a great trade and he can still play for his country.
Odoi can learn what life is like outside of the Premier League. However, Chelsea want him to stay and the assistant boss Gianfranco Zola has told Hudson-Odoi not to have his head turned.
He has also said that It is difficult when one is young, they think only about tomorrow and he added that In Willian and Pedro, Chelsea have two very good players who are going over 30 and there will a moment come when Callum may overtake their place. Jenas thinks that one has the option of staying there where they have started a process, or they can go somewhere else and start again. Going to a big club and heading straight into the team is difficult and doesn’t work that way.
He also thinks what Dortmund did for Sancho, for Callum it could be here, where he can improve. However, Bayern Munich have made four bids till now for the 18-year-old winger and the latest of which met Chelsea’s £35m valuation.
Hudson-Odoi is rumoured to be keen on moving to Germany and has made it clear to Chelsea that he does not want to extend his contract at Stamford Bridge, which has just 18 months left. Fellow young English wingers Jadon Sancho and Reiss Nelson have also been there at Germany and thriving well since their moves to the Bundesliga on permanent and loan deals respectively.
Playing there well even offered Sancho even a place in the England squad. Hudson-Odoi has made just 14 first-team appearances for the Blues and his lack of opportunities is believed to be a reason for his desire to leave. Recently the winger has been hailed as an “outstanding talent” by former Germany star Michael Ballack. The German midfielder who has been one of the halls of fame of Chelsea said that we are talking about a player who just came recently from the youth level and he is trying to achieve the step to the professional level in a top club.
