According to the latest reports, Premier League side Chelsea are prepared to offer Zinedine Zidane a bounty of £200m to spend when he takes up the job as manager. Italian mastermind Maurizio Sarri has come under the firing line because of the recent poor run of form at Chelsea and his replacement could be the French boss. When Maurizio Sarri took charge of Chelsea earlier in the summer of 2018 when he replaced fellow Italian manager and compatriot Antonio Conte.
The 60-year-old former Napoli master tactician arrived at Chelsea with a massive reputation and his philosophy and attractive brand of football received plenty of praise and plaudits from fans and pundits from all across the world. Sarri has guided Chelsea to sixth place on the English Premier League table at the moment but is still well and truly in the hunt for a Champions League spot. This initial start to the season was applauded and went down well with the Blues faithful but those same fans have now had enough of Sarri’s stubbornness.
N’golo Kante is arguably the best holding midfielder in the world and the French midfielder was immense in his national side winning the World Cup in the summer but Sarri has dispositioned Kante into a box to box midfielder in order to operate Jorginho in the base of the midfield. Sarri’s tactics have now backfired and his side suffered heavy defeats against Bournemouth and Manchester City in the league this month. The West London club also got dumped out of the FA Cup last week against fierce rivals Manchester United. Even the loss of the League Cup final to Manchester City this weekend was another nail in the coffin for Sarri’s managerial career at Chelsea and now a lot relies on the game against Tottenham Hotspur.
Reports claim that Sarri’s future has already been decided and the Italian will be given the sack in the coming few days and former Real Madrid boss Zinedine Zidane will take up the job at Stamford Bridge. The 46-year-old Frenchman has been considered as the main man to fill in the vacancy once it arises. And reports claim that Chelsea is willing to give Zidane a massive budget of £200m in order to bring re-enforcements at Chelsea in the summer transfer window.
Any manager who takes up the job at Chelsea will have to face the wrath of a transfer ban which means that Chelsea cannot sign new players for a whole year. Another key factor for Zidane to take up the job would be whether if Belgian superstar Eden Hazard remains at the club or not. Zidane is a massive admirer of Hazard but his contract with Chelsea expires in the summer of 2020 and he is stalling a new deal.
Christian Pulisic will already join Chelsea in the summer but Zidane will be looking at Serie A duo of Mauro Icardi and Kalidou Koulibaly to strengthen his squad. Even a reunion of Isco is possible as the Spaniard is linked with a return to West London and the £200 million for Zidane looks to be sought out.
