Manchester United Legend States That Ole Gunnar Solskjaer Should Get The Job Permanently

According to former Manchester United superstar Ryan Giggs, current Red Devils caretaker, Ole Gunnar Solskjaer should get the job as a permanent manager. Solskjaer took over as manager of Manchester United earlier in December and has transformed the club from what it was under the rule of Jose Mourinho.

Manchester United fans were seeing their team suffer a lot under the reign of Portuguese manager Jose Mourinho. That was only less than a few months ago. The ‘Special One’ instilled his defensive tactics into the club. It wasn’t something that the United faithful were used to watching on a regular basis. Even with the football being rather dire and boring, the results were also not positive. Mourinho’s tactics backfired for most of the start of the new season.

Manchester United Legend Ryan Giggs States That Ole Gunnar Solskjaer Should Get The Manchester United Job

It was the writing on the wall when Manchester United’s fierce rivals Liverpool humiliated the Red Devils 3-1 at Anfield. The United board decided that it was about time that the giant club part ways with Mourinho and his antics and a few days later the 56-year-old received the sack.

Mourinho left Manchester United in a shambles. He is in sixth place with almost nothing left to compete for in the remainder of the season. However, nobody would’ve expected what Manchester United have done ever since. The North West club hired former football star Ole Gunnar Solskjaer as the caretaker of the side to bring some stability at the club until the end of the season until a permanent replacement is decided upon.

Solskjaer has put his name well and truly in the hat for the list of candidates to get the job on a permanent basis as he has lost just one game in 13 fixtures since taking over in December. The only defeat for the 46-year-old Norwegian came against Thomas Tuchel’s Paris Saint-Germain in the Champions League first leg at Old Trafford.

Impressive wins against Tottenham Hotspur, Leicester City and even Chelsea in the FA Cup showed that United are still a force to reckon with. In fact, United are now securing the fourth spot on the Premier League table. They are a strong contender to finish the season in the top four as well.

What Ryan Giggs Told The Express In His Recent Interview?

Another former Manchester United superstar Ryan Giggs has claimed that Solskjaer should be appointed as permanent manager of the club in the summer. The former Welsh midfielder was also in charge of taking care of Manchester United. He played the role of an assistant coach to Loius Van Gaal.

Giggs went on to explain, “I would not be in any rush. Because you do not want to derail the current situation. Planning is more important than the announcement. Look at Guardiola. He got in Man City players he wanted the year before he took over. So, if it is Ole, keep it amongst the club and start planning. Our problem in the past few years is that we were always playing catch-up. We should identify the two or three players we need. That is if we are going to win the Premier League and Champions League.”

It will not be an easy call for the board of the Manchester-based side to take. Though if they ask the expert opinion of Sir Alex Ferguson in taking this decision, he would most probably recommend the Norwegian main-man. Let’s see what happens now.
