Revealed: The Chelsea Star Who Almost Quit Football For Good

The star Argentine centre forward Gonzalo Higuain joined the Blues in this winter transfer window as a loanee from Juventus. Higuain was at AC Milan in the first six months of this season in a loan period too. However, after a brilliant start for AC Milan at the beginning of the season, Gonzalo Higuain’s form had been dipped quite an extent so far. That’s why the Italian side decided to bring in Piatek from Genoa in this winter transfer window.

There was a point in time, when the attacker nearly quit football, it was revealed recently. This was back after the 2016 Copa America, when his mother Nancy was really sick and his team had lost the finals to Chile. It was heartbreak all over and the player was about to call it a day. However, that did not happen and he is at Chelsea now.

On the other hand, Piatek is in great form in this season for Genoa and he has also scored two goals on his debut match in Serie A. Higuain has failed to score a single goal in Chelsea shirt so far in two matches. The former Real Madrid man is not seeming to be fully fit right at this moment. The manager of Chelsea, Maurizio Sarri has also agreed with this fact.

Gonzalo Higuain was not involved in the last few matches of AC Milan due to the speculations of his joining at Chelsea in this winter transfer window. So, the star Argentine centre forward is somehow lacking the match fitness. The match fitness plays a very much important role to make an impact in a Premier League match.

The star Argentine centre forward Gonzalo Higuain made his debut for the Blues against Sheffild Wednesday in the FA Cup match. Maurizio Sarri decided to play Gonzalo Higuain in that match. Higuain failed to score in that match too. The top Argentine centre forward was in the field for almost more than 80 minutes. Still he was not able to score against Sheffild Wednesday. Though, Gonzalo Higuain could have got his first goal in Chelsea shirt on Sunday in the FA Cup match against Sheffild Wednesday. Chelsea were awarded a penalty kick in that match. Gonzalo Higuain was the designated penalty taker for this match in the absence of Eden Hazard in the starting lineup of the Blues.

However, Higuain has asked Willian to take the spot kick and the debut goal of the star Argentine centre-forward is yet to come. In the next match against Bournemouth, the star Argentine centre-forward did not score too. Maurizio Sarri took Gonzalo Higuain off in the second half of the match to bring in Olivier Giroud. The decision of Maurizio Sarri was booed by the Chelsea fans at the Vitality Stadium.

Despite not getting a single goal in his opening two matches in English football, Gonzalo Higuain still impressed many Chelsea fans with his off the ball movements. The first touch of the player has also been appreciated by the pundits so far in this season. Though, he needs to shoot more towards goal to be successful as a centre forward.

The link-up play with Eden Hazard and Gonzalo Higuain is going to play an important role for the Blues for the rest of the season if the Blues have to win the major trophies in this season. Gonzalo Higuain will be eyeing to get his first goal in the Premier League against Huddersfield Town at Stamford Bridge on Sunday.
