According to the latest reports, Premier League side Tottenham Hotspur have become the latest club to join the race to sign Juventus star winger Douglas Costa in the upcoming summer transfer window. Spurs will now join Manchester United, Manchester City and Chelsea in the hunt to bring Costa into England’s top flight.
Unfortunately, Tottenham always seem to be losing out on the most important battles when it comes close to winning silverware. There is no doubt that Mauricio Pochettino has done an incredible job with the North London club but there are no trophies to show for those impressive displays and outings. Spurs did not make any summer transfer signings but are still well in the hunt for a top 4 berth despite slipping up against Liverpool last weekend. The North London giants also failed to make a splash in the January transfer window and that has shown the effects of failing to go on a regular run of games to win trophies.
Pochettino’s side has just moved into their new stadium and there will also be hope to sign new players in the summer to bolster Spurs’ chance of winning the title. Tottenham will really have to spend the funds in order to make themselves a proper team and build on their ambitions. One player that Spurs are now targeting is Juventus star Douglas Costa in the summer to bolster their attacking department.
Costa is one of the most lethal wingers in world football at the moment but he is struggling to find regular football in Turin. Since the arrival of Cristiano Ronaldo from Real Madrid in the summer, Costa has moved further down the pecking order. Even the emergence of Federico Bernardeschi has been stellar, pushing Costa towards a spot on the bench. But the 28-year-old Brazilian has had some of his injury concerns this season and has made only seven starts in Serie A and four in the Champions League. With Costa’s struggles, he has managed just one goal this entire season, unable to prove himself under Massimiliano Allegri. The former Bayern Munich star is keen on a move away from Juventus this summer to revitalize his career.
Premier League giants Manchester United are also in the hunt to sign Costa, who could add some serious power to Ole Gunnar Solskjaer’s squad next season. Chelsea is also monitoring Costa’s situation as a possible replacement for Eden Hazard if the Belgian decides to leave the Stamford Bridge unit this summer.

Pep Guardiola also wants to keep up the momentum of his squad and add further re-enforcement to Manchester City and Costa is also on the Spaniard’s radar.
Reports claim that Juventus are looking to sell Costa at a much higher price than the £34m they paid for him when they signed him from Bayern Munich. The Red Devils had a £54m bid rejected by the Old Lady in the January transfer, window which means that the Serie A champs are looking for an offer much bigger if they are to bulge.
