According to the latest reports, all signs point to Paris Saint Germain hit-man Kylian Mbappe joining Real Madrid in the upcoming summer transfer window. The Frenchman is one of the hottest properties in world football at the moment and is taking the world by storm with a likely move to the biggest club in the world imminent.
Ever since the departure of Cristiano Ronaldo from Real Madrid to Juventus in a £100m deal in the summer of 2018, Los Blancos have not really managed to recover from this setback. The Portuguese ace left the Santiago Bernabeu in a stunning manner, scoring 450 goals in nine seasons for the La Liga giants, leaving as the club’s all-time top goalscorer and also leaving a massive void in the team. Ronaldo helped Madrid win the Champions League on four occasions, incidentally winning three in his last three seasons at the club. But following the 34-year-old Ronaldo’s absence, Real Madrid have not been at their sharpest and have suffered quite a few humiliations this season.
At the start of the season, Julen Lopetegui was in charge of the Madrid giants but lost the UEFA Super Cup to local rivals Atletico Madrid in his first competitive game in charge. A string of poor results led to Lopetegui’s dismissal and Real Madrid hired the Spaniard’s assistant Santiago Solari to take the reins. A good run at the start regained the trust in the Madrid faithful but it was all only a matter of time before an inevitable sack later on in the season. Real Madrid lost a two-legged Copa Del Rey tie to arch rivals Barcelona this month and are currently sitting in 3rd place on the La Liga table, 12 points behind the Catalonian leaders. Los Blancos were also eliminated from the prestigious by a pool of youngsters from Ajax as the Dutch outfit humiliated Real Madrid 4-1 in their own backyard, overcoming a deficit from the first leg.
Real Madrid then reappointed Zinedine Zidane to manage the club and the French boss has a huge task on his hands this time around as well. It’s no doubt Zidane will look to make a splash in the summer transfer window and lure in a big name signing to the Spanish capital. One player who has been linked with a move to Real Madrid is PSG star forward Kylian Mbappe.

20-year-old has been living the dream since he lifted the World Cup in Russia last summer. Mbappe has also scored 31 times across all competitions this season and is quite a notch above the rest of the most talented youngsters in the world. However, there has been talk and speculation around the French capital of Mbappe making a move away from the Parc Des Princes as he is frustrated by the fines the club are charging him for his late arrival at training.
Also, PSG has been unable to make it deep into the rounds of the Champions League and actually make a fight for the elusive trophy. Mbappe could do so if he joins his national compatriot Zinedine Zidane in Madrid, who has a terrific record on the European stage.
