According to the latest reports, Premier League giants Liverpool are currently on red alert after being notified that Red Bull Leipzig striker Timo Werner could be looking for a move away from the club in the summer transfer window. Leipzig’s CEO Oliver Mintzlaff has insisted that the German forward is not willing to pen a contract extension with the Bundesliga club and that he could be at the exit door in a few months.
Jurgen Klopp’s Liverpool is currently enjoying one of their best seasons ever in the Premier League ever since the club formed back in 1892. The Reds currently sit at the summit of the Premier League table and are two points ahead of second-placed Manchester City. Pep Guardiola’s Manchester City still have a game in hand but Liverpool have done exceedingly well to remain in contention for the Premiership with just four games remaining until the end of the season. Manchester City broke multiple records last season when they stormed their way to the Premier League title, amassing 100 points in the process. But Liverpool will ensure that the title race goes right down to the wire as they will fight right until the very end.
The Merseyside outfit are also in the Champions League semi-finals and look well equipped to go on and win the elite continental trophy this season. Liverpool swept aside Porto in a shocking 6-1 aggregate victory to set up an exciting Champions League semi-final tie with Catalan giants Barcelona. However, if Liverpool fail to win either of the two trophies they are competing for this season, then Klopp will look to buy a proper goalscoring forward in the summer transfer window.
At the moment, Brazilian attacker Roberto Firmino plays as a false number nine but he is not a natural center-forward and doesn’t really have the instincts of a finisher. Klopp is targeting one of the most lethal forwards in Europe and has been linked with a move for Red Bull Leipzig star Timo Werner. The 23-year-old striker has been scoring goals galore this season as he has netted 18 times already this season across all competitions, catching the eye of several top clubs on the European continent.
Even Real Madrid and Bayern Munich are monitoring the situation of the youngster whose current deal with Leipzig runs out in the summer of 2020. However, Leipzig’s CEO Oliver Mintzlaff has stated that it’s unlikely that Werner will remain at the Red Bull Arena because he wants to play football elsewhere. In a recent talk with Sky Germany, Mintzlaff said, “We want to extend it with him, but he has signaled to us that he would rather not extend.”
Timo Werner is being heavily linked with Liverpool again at the minute.
Can't say I've watched him all that much but whenever I have seen him play he's been unimpressive.

Leipzig may be forced to cash in on Werner this summer itself as he will leave the club for free next season if no contract negotiations are confirmed. Liverpool will look to use this to their advantage and lure the German forward to Anfield to bolster their attacking lineup, as they hope to continue to win more titles in the seasons to follow.
