According to the latest reports, Chelsea superstar Eden Hazard’s move from Stamford Bridge to Real Madrid could be only a matter of days away from being confirmed. The Belgian has been heavily linked with a move to the Spanish capital for a while now but finally, a decision could be made about his future in the upcoming few days.
Ever since Cristiano Ronaldo left Real Madrid back in the summer of 2018 for Serie A giants Juventus in a stunning £100m deal, the Los Blancos have failed to find a suitable replacement. The Portuguese ace spent nine seasons at the Santiago Bernabeu and became the club’s all-time top goalscorer netting 450 times after joining Real Madrid from Manchester United. Ronaldo helped Madrid to win three Champions League titles in consecutive seasons and the 34-year old’s departure has left a massive void at the Spanish capital. But Real Madrid’s season has also come crashing down since Ronaldo left as they currently sit in third place on the La Liga table, 12 points behind leaders and fierce rivals Barcelona.
The Catalonians also dumped out Real Madrid from the Copa Del Rey over two legs last month and have taken advantage of their poor form. The Champions League holders were humiliated by a bunch of youngsters from Ajax as the Dutch outfit eliminated them from the elite tournament in their own backyard. Real Madrid has already sacked two coaches this season and reappointed Zinedine Zidane to take charge of the club. But the French boss knows that he has a big task on his hands and needs re-enforcements to improve.
One player that is being targeted for quite a while now at Real Madrid is Chelsea star winger Eden Hazard. The 28-year-old has been in fine form for the Blues this season as he has scored 17 goals and notched up 12 assists as well across all competitions. But Chelsea will be struggling to keep hold of their talisman as interest from the Los Blancos will grow. Hazard has also publicly stated that it is his dream to play for the Spanish giants and under Zidane.
Chelsea is currently on sixth place on the Premier League table and will struggle to get into the top 4 this season to secure a Champions League berth. And that could be a major factor in deciding whether Hazard would continue playing for Chelsea or leave the West London side. Hazard is currently stalling on signing a new deal with the club in order to keep his options open. Chelsea is also going to be punished by the FA and be handed a transfer ban for two windows which means that they cannot sign any more players for almost a year.
However, recent reports have claimed that Hazard’s move to Real Madrid could be confirmed in a matter of days with the La Liga giants prepared to announce his signing. Certainly, Chelsea fans will not be happy with this news and things will start to look quite bleak following the departure of Hazard, whose contract expires at the end of next summer.
