According to the latest reports, Manchester United superstar’s David De Gea and Paul Pogba could potentially leave the club in the upcoming summer transfer window if the Red Devils fail to finish inside the top four this season. The English side is in a battle to qualify for a Champions League berth with Tottenham Hotspur, Chelsea and Arsenal are in close contention as well.
Ole Gunnar Solskjaer did wonders with Manchester United when he was first appointed as caretaker of the club back in December. The Norwegian inherited the club from Portuguese manager Jose Mourinho, who left United in quite a shambles during the early part of the season. The air around Old Trafford grew toxic because of Mourinho and his departure was on the cards because of poor results and dire performances.
However, Solskjaer came in and steered the sinking ship by putting together a string of positive results. The Norwegian has helped United compete for a top-four berth, something that looked unlikely under Mourinho’s reign. Solskjaer also aided United to the Champions League quarter-finals as they completed a dramatic comeback against Ligue 1 giants Paris Saint Germain after trailing 2-0 to go on and win 3-1 at the Parc Des Princes.
These impressive results gave Manchester United the hope that Solskjaer was the right man for the job on a permanent basis and handed the 46-year old a three-year contract. However, results have not really gone United’s favor over the past few weeks and they have lost five of their last seven games across all competitions. After being dumped out of the Champions League against La Liga side Barcelona in the week on a 4-0 aggregate thrashing, United suffered another 4-0 humiliation at the hands of Merseyside club Everton on Sunday, denting their chances of making it to the top four. If United fail to qualify for the Champions League, it will be difficult to keep hold of some top players at Old Trafford.
Spanish goalkeeper David De Gea looks like a man far from his best as he has made some very costly errors this season despite being tipped as one of the best goalkeepers in the world. The United shot-stopper still has to agree on a new deal with the club and is on a contract until 2020 when Manchester United trigger a one-year extension.
World Cup winner Paul Pogba is also on the wish list of many top clubs across the European continent as the man who signed for United from Juventus in a £100m deal can win silverware at a bigger club. La Liga giants Barcelona and Real Madrid are keeping tabs on the 26-year-old midfielder whose future seems to be up in the air following a mixed season at Old Trafford.
David de Gea wants reassurances about Manchester United's transfer policy before he agrees to a new contract, says the Daily Mail. ✍️

Another player who could leave Manchester United is star forward Romelu Lukaku as the Belgian has found his time rather frustrating on the whole at Old Trafford following a £75m move from Everton. United are currently in sixth place on the League table and three points behind fourth-placed Chelsea with four games remaining until the end of the season.
