According to football pundit Chris Sutton, Rangers star Ryan Kent, who is on loan from Liverpool, should join fierce rivals Celtic when his loan spell comes to an end at the end of the season. The young winger has shown his ability and class for Steven Gerrard’s side but Sutton believes that Kent would grow more as a player is he joined Celtic.
Liverpool football club is enjoying one of their most successful seasons in the Premier League ever since the club was formed back in 1892. The Reds currently sit at the summit of the League table and are two points ahead of Pep Guardiola’s Manchester City. Although Manchester City still has a game in hand, the Merseyside club has done exceedingly well to remain in contention for the title run after 32 games. City broke plenty of records when they stormed their way to the Premier League title last season amassing a record 100 points. There is no doubt that Jurgen Klopp’s side will fight right until the end of this season for the elusive Premier League title, something that the Anfield faithful have waited for 29 long years.
One factor that has kept Liverpool’s momentum going is their defense that has sealed up and become airtight. With just 19 goals conceded this season in the Premier League, Liverpool boasts the meanest defensive record this season. But despite their attack not firing on all cylinders throughout the campaign, their forwards have been finding the back of the net when called upon. There is almost no place for Daniel Sturridge or Xherdan Shaqiri in the starting eleven, which means that the on-loan forwards will also not have much of a chance to enter into the frame even though they are impressing at their respective clubs.
One such player is Ryan Kent, who is currently spending his loan spell at Rangers with the Scottish Premier League club. The 22-year-old has been incredible so far scoring six times and assisting four more attracting interest from several suitors. However, former Celtic superstar Chris Sutton believes that Kent should look for a move to the Celtic Park following his loan spell from the Ibrox Stadium.
The on-loan Liverpool star scored another goal against Rangers this weekend but ended up on the losing side after James Forrest’s late winner. Kent also showed his aggression when he threw an arm against Celtic captain Scott Brown late on in the Old Firm derby but Sutton believes that the young winger could be an asset for Celtic in the future. The 46-year-old Sutton said, “(Celtic) could do a lot worse than trying to pinch Ryan Kent from under the noses of Rangers. Why not? The on-loan Liverpool winger would improve Celtic and the left-hand side of the team is an issue with Scott Sinclair’s performances now so flat. The winger inspired his team with his performance, taking the game by the scruff of the neck after the interval and showing bravery on the ball. Celtic should test Liverpool’s resolve with a bid.”
Reports claim that Liverpool could look to sell Kent for a transfer fee of £12m in the summer if Rangers or Celtic are interested in the attacker.
