Former Tottenham Star Believes Liverpool Should Sign This Player From The North London Giants

According to the latest reports, former Spurs player Gary Stevens believes that Premier League leaders Liverpool should sign Tottenham Hotspur midfielder Christian Eriksen in the upcoming summer transfer window in order to bolster their side. The Reds are still in the hunt for a Premier League title and could do well with further top class additions to their squad.

Jurgen Klopp’s Liverpool is currently having one of their best seasons in the Premier League since the club was formed back in 1892. The Merseyside club is sitting at the top of the English league table and are two points ahead of second-placed Manchester City. Although Manchester City still has a game in hand, Liverpool has done an incredible job to still remain in contention for the title against Pep Guardiola’s side.

Manchester City smashed plenty of records when they stormed their way to the Premier League title last season amassing a record 100 points in the process. This time around, Liverpool are making sure that they will push last season’s champions until the final hurdle to try and end their 29-year drought without a Premiership title.

Liverpool has looked extremely sharp at either end of the pitch this term as their defense has conceded the fewest goals in the Premier League. A mean back line that has allowed only 17 goals in 32 games has done quite a superb job for a team that had its Achilles heel in that department. Despite the forwards not reaching the levels of last season, Sadio Mane, Roberto Firmino and Mohamed Salah have all contributed for Liverpool at crucial intervals keeping them alive in the title race. With the signing of Fabinho in midfield, Liverpool has also got a defensive midfielder who can control the tempo of the game.

There have been instances where Liverpool have failed to break down some teams that sit deep defend. This is where Klopp needs to be smart and sign in a quality playmaker who can thread in those through balls to players in the final third. One player that can be vital for Liverpool is Tottenham Hotspur star Christian Eriksen, this is according to Spurs legend Gary Stevens.

Eriksen has shown time and time again that he is quite possibly one of the best midfielders in the world and his seven goals and 13 assists this season numbers that he can definitely improve on with better players around him. While speaking on the Dane, Stevens said that Liverpool can benefit big time with the signing of the 27-year-old, “I think Liverpool need to sign a player that will get into any side. I think Christian Eriksen would be brilliant for Liverpool.”

The 56-year-old Englishman also explained that his hard work off the ball and ability to create will help Liverpool, “He creates things, he makes things happen, gets on the ball and scores goals. And if you look at his stats, he covers the yards.”

Liverpool has been crying out loud for a creative player in midfield because their current ones are too pragmatic, will Eriksen don a Liverpool jersey next season.
